Making halloween decorations -- really! So far this year (2008) I've completed several skulls, a tarantula that is awesome, several rats for the house, and the fabulous "Compendium of Forbidden Knowledge" which is a HUGE book that holds all things Halloween. We've almost completed the coffin cart and the miniature mansion is not far behind. My list is very long this year and we've only just begun. I'm dying to make an ominous scarecrow with a jack-o-lantern head and a couple of ground-breaking corpses. Let's see what else I can add to my list...
MOVIES
I love old-school Vincent Price movies -- his voice -- mmmmm. Others that do it for me: 13 Ghosts, the original The Hills Have Eyes (great scene with the canary), 30 Days of Night, It, The Shining (another old-school treasure), Identity, the whole Hannibal series, X-Files tv series, Seven, the Saw series, The Matrix trilogy, all Freddy and Jason movies, all Michael Myers movies, Bram Stoker's Dracula, Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, The Lost Boys, Psycho (not the remake), Fear, and many more which I'll provide later.
Courage, strength, fortitude. Power not arrested in the act of judgement, but passing on to further action, sometimes obstinacy.
This is a card of courage and energy. It represents both the Lion's hot, roaring energy, and the Maiden's steadfast will. The innocent Maiden is unafraid, undaunted, and indomitable. In some cards she opens the lion's mouth, in others she shuts it. Either way, she proves that inner strength is more powerful than raw physical strength. That forces can be controlled and used to score a victory is very close to the message of the Chariot, which might be why, in some decks, it is Justice that is card 8 instead of Strength. With strength you can control not only the situation, but yourself. It is a card about anger and impulse management, about creative answers, leadership and maintaining one's personal honor. It can also stand for a steadfast friend.
