Acting, music, movies, comics, and...of course, Halloween!

Racism & sexism.Celine Deon

I'm a full-time warehouse manager, part-time actor, full-time husband, part-time producer, full-time dad, full-time smart-ass. I'm a rabid music fan, a lover of all kinds of cinema and a huge comic book geek. In May of 2005 I was wed to my beautiful wife here in Houston, and we honeymooned in beautiful Jamaica. I have two step-children, although I consider them my own. I have an incredible family, and a wonderful life.

I've acted in numerous stage productions, and even a few commercials. After years of becoming increasingly frustrated with the casting system, I took the advice of actor Bruce Campbell (whom I met at the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin): "if you want to act, then you should produce". In May of 2004 I produced and starred in the first Houston production of "Hedwig and the Angry Inch", an off-broadway hit about a frustrated, East-German, transexual rock-singer at legendary Fitzgerald's nightclub.

There are many layers to my personality. I'm a very loving person, yet I'm incredibly sarcastic. I'm compassionate and spiritual, yet I've got a rather dark, twisted sense of humour. While some may find these aspects contradictory, those that know me will tell you that none of it is at odds in me.

I've been a lover of Halloween, and all things spooky, as long as I can remember. As a child, I stayed up late to watch classic monster movies, most especially the Univeral movies. Dracula, Frankenstein, The Wolf-Man and The Mummy were huge favorites of mine. When a local theater held a special screening of "The Creature from the Black Lagoon" (in a double-feature with "It Came From Outer Space", both in their original 3D) I became a huge fan of the misunderstood, aquatic monster from the Amazon. Shortly thereafter, a local TV station ran "Revenge of the Creature", with a major cross-promotion with a convenience store chain that sold 3D glasses for the occassion. Pretty much every kid in town watched the movie, and the next day they had a new nick-name for me. My last name is Gill, so it comes as no surprise that they thought it quite hilarious to call me "The Gill-Man". They meant it as a taunt, but I LOVED it! I was being associated with one of the Universal Monsters, and one of my faves to boot! To this very day, my love of those old monsters continues, but The Gill-Man is my hands-down fave. The Creature ROCKS Among us!
