Subject: 'Scent' as Haunt Enhancer
Content: Did you know that the sense of smell is the only one with a direct link to the brain? It's the most primal of our senses, and has a deeper effect on our emotions than we are often consciously aware of. OK so much for the science lesson. For an enhanced haunt effect, why not add "scent" to the ambience? What scents would you add to your haunt? The damp smell of soil and rotting leaves would be effective for a forest or graveyard theme; Frankinscence for that Pharoah's Tomb; rubbing alcohol for a lab. Perhaps roses for a Gothic Vampire theme or a ghostly wedding; the heady scent of carnations at a funeral. If you're going for gross-out gore, the odor of blue cheese has been scientifically proven to closely resemble the stench of human vomit. Into old-fashioned Halloween? Maybe go for a candy store-like aroma of black licorice, or cinnamon. Let's hear your ideas!
