Subject: Bill (William Cassidy) Interview
Content: Of course Laffinthedark.com had the pleasure of conducting this interview with such a humble part of our past. Here's the article. http://www.laffinthedark.com/articles/pretzel/interview.htm Ya know, I sit here and understand this guy. He mentioned liability and MAN did he hit that nail on the head. I also sit here in a pile of drool and completely ENVY someone that has such a wonderful ride, or a part of our history. I only wish that this company was still in existance. I don't think it would be the same though. It probably would have changed hands and been more of a business than a pleasure. I honestly think that the Pretzel Ride Company did what it did because the owners loved it. I mean hey, a ride for $1,200.00? That's a steal even back then. Speaking of liability. I think it's out of control. I'm all about damages for someone that can prove obvious negligent behavior. But MAN, people are afraid to have a Haunt these days because if a person trips on a sidewalk, they want to sue someone. If I trip and it's my fault, then I need to put a towel on my face and move on. I think our society got way out of control a long time ago with this liability garbage. If it's obviously YOUR fault then so be it. If you didn't perform a standard inspection as required or you ignored the little spinning bolt you saw earlier then you certainly deserve to be punished. If it's something beyond your control then it's something beyond your control. Insurance companies are to blame too. Everyone needs insurance, but punishing those that adhere to the rules for the folks that don't isn't cool either. I realize there is no way to regulate this and it's a shame. At least there isn't a regulation now. Ya know, I'm going to have a dark ride before I'm gone and I don't care if it's a used carnival dark ride. I HAVE TO have one. I'd spend all day in there, every day LOL. How could they build these things back then and we can't seem to do it right now? I'm all about the new ride systems but can't we build something primative that does the job and offers a thrill? I don't think we need a ride system with an air ride suspension with a built in back massager. I liked the clanking, spinning and unpredictable ride systems of yesterday. If I'm wrong, I guess I'm turning into the one track minded old fogie I used to despise. Please enjoy that article, I so wish I had one of these things. Or even the plans for one. I'll find a company to build it for me. I emailed a car system company that never responded to my message LOL. Hey, they make industrial transportation systems. Like they can't build a good dark ride track? Or maybe they don't want to because of that little "liability issue". Grrrrrrrrrrowl.!
