Slow progress
Posted On 04/12/2008 08:16:12 by PAHalloweenFreak

I got to finally work on my carriage last night.  YEAH!!  I didn't get too much done but any progress is welcome and you know it would be a project of my own if it didn't turn out to be DIFFICULT!!  This is definitely harder in reality than it was in my head when I first came up with the idea!!  I had to re-cut some to make it narrower to make it look closer to a rectangle than a square (like it did).  Part of the difficulty is making due with what I have in the way of materials & inferior tools. Plus having to run back and forth from the garage to the house because I forgot to bring something down with me.  Then there were the dreaded DISGUSTING worms all over the yard when I had gotten done for the night that made it even more difficult to get back up to my house!!!!  It had rained and they were EVERYWHERE!!!!!  HUGE nightcrawlers!!  I think I counted about 20 in this  picture!  AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

If the neighbors  saw or heard me I am sure they got a good laugh!!  I was crouched over shining my little flashlight at them and blowing on them to get them to go back in their holes so I wouldn't step on them.  It was worse than a haunted attraction for me cause I HATE WORMS!!!

So anyway, the pic below is just an idea of what the drapery will look like.  I still have to add the side panels but I was anxious to see how they would look. Oh, I had originally bought a long white scarf to do the draping but found these reddish curtains in the dumpster!  LOL!!

That is starting to look really spiffy.  Grimdaddy, tulle is the sheer, netting-like material that they sell for bridal veils and stiffening under poofy formal dresses. It has many applications in crafts as well, you could probably rip and shred it to make cobwebby sort of effects.

The tulle would be nice, but not necessary.  I think it would add a opulent, luxurious, effect which would be quite apropos for a hearse..  I don't know about white, though. Ivory or tea-stained?

Don't be mad at the poor worms, they only come up to the surface so they don't drown. They will go back when it dr1es up.  Worms and spiders are a gardener's friends. Ants. not so much. You could always collect them for a present for your favorite fisherman?
