Chainsaw Scares.
Posted On 07/17/2008 18:00:59 by SpiderBaby

I'm working on ideas for The Frightmare Forest Spook Trail this year.

Somebody said that chainsaws are over-done, but when you live in an area where they haven't had much Halloween stuff, besides trick-or-treating, for years it's not over-done at all. Dagon played Leatherface last year and scared some people pretty badly. One chick freaked so bad that he had to take the mask off and talk to her and show her the chainsaw didn't have it's teeth.

The only scare we know of for sure so far is a chainsaw killer, but it's not gonna be the movie character Leatherface. Dagon made a new mask himself. It creeps me out. It's made from real leather. We didn't kill anything to get the leather, someone who wanted the meat to eat did and we got the pelt from them.

So we have one scare almost all the way taken care of, just gotta fix the area/scene up, but can't do that till closer to Halloween.

A lot of people had trouble getting the chainsaw started. Seems like Dagon had trouble one maybe two times.

I think it's very cool. I'm fond of chainsaw scares for a small Haunt.

Like for me, running a chainless saw to scare my guests would work out very well.

For Pro Haunts, I feel sorry for them. With increasing gas prices it's a friggen shame.

Also, most know that I'm really trying to plan on a Pro Haunt. I have no doubt that when I do it, we'll be jamming with folks. Mostly because I know so many people and have a couple media connections. Not a big cheese connection of course, but rather a work related one.

I've been toying with the saw problems, not only because of cost, but the constant starting and shutting off situation. If you do this, please have a team of folks that want to take turns.

Pulling the starter can beat someone up. I know from experience that once a saw is started up and hot, it starts quickly for the next round, but it can be a painful task after awhile.

Let's face it, between media and the saw itself there is NOTHING like the sound of a saw. Loud, obnoxious and dangerous as can be. I put a new chain on my saw last year, it went through 12" logs like butter.

Vrooommmmmmmmm

Yeah, I know about having someone who can play the part. A couple of the guys tried it and had trouble getting the chainsaw to start. One guy was too small to play Leatherface, he's a big guy whether it's weight big or muscle big on all the movies. So it's more effective for him to be larger.

It works when the character doing it makes it work. I've seen a chainsaw killer that wasn't even good enough to gather a chuckle from the crowd, just a "that was dumb" remark.

If you got a good character that keeps the scares going, keep doing it.

Yeah, I think most people like the chainsaw. :)

if it works ,don't fix it! yes they are used everywhere, because they work.and when you got a small budget ,you use what you can.i would not have one with out a chainsaw. if you don't ,they ask...where were the saws
