Half-way There
Posted On 08/08/2008 08:24:56 by Ravenhair

I'm mid-way in recovery at the moment.  Sorry I haven't been online however, our house is really the morgue of the walking wounded...Andy had double hernia surgery and is holding an icebag to his gut like he has to pee, I'm still on the gimp with this knee, my youngest comes home every other day with some bump/bruise/scrape to deal with from running about after youngsters for an outdoor camp.  Even the dog is showing signs of being in a constant ache.  Sheesh...

I went in last week and was tapped off for hopefully the final time.  It's healing okay, no infection however, it just aches like toothache.  I'm getting stronger but I tire and can tell when I have to stop.

Since I was laid up and meant to do this last December while laid up for the left knee, I got my ankle tattoo.  Hell, I wasn't doing anything so I designed what I wanted and James at Bethesda Tattoo did a fabulous job. My hairdresser at Urbanity referred me.  AWESOME bunch of folks.  Gallery pics at my personal space page.

Otherwise, still gearing up for another horror makeup/costume competition -- didn't have much else to do but to sit on my lump and sew. Competition is next Saturday and not sure how I'm gonna hobble around.  I still have my brace and hey, I do have crutches or a wheelchair at my disposal.  I'm rather worried -- not just for the competition but getting out there and getting stuck.  Still making preps for that.  Not sure how any of it will pan out.  I've pretty much finished 3 of the four costumes I need, most of the appliances, and now trying to organize final fitting and rehearsal.  Not easy to do in this state and I have to stop after a time to rest still.  Totally sucks.  Thanks again to Horrormaster Scott for allowing us to use his room as a temporary green room to prepare.

Looking toward the next softball season -- I'm excited and I have a lengthy PT recoop before March 2009.  I'm ready for a season in the sun.  Hopefully we won't have the rain outs, we'll have a new commish, and all of you and more come back for a great season.

Thanks for all the phone calls and emails -- sorry, again it takes a while to reply but I can't sit up to a computer for great lengths of time yet BUT I will reply.

Diggs, Freak, PA, Master -- thanks for well wishes

...the plot now thickens -- THE DOG literally was flopping around like a fish on a hot deck and we had to run him to the emergency animal clinic. We thought he was having a stroke...our dog is 60-70 lbs chow/malamute. It was really scary having a dog half the size of a human being literally flopping like a flounder on the living room floor and his eyes were rolling to the back of head. I have NEVER been so frightened and helpless in my life!

Turns out "Edgar" was having a vertigo attack caused by an infection in his left middle ear. Apparently is comes on suddenly and can make the animal flip violently. He's got medication twice a day -- there's a pill and a squirt of this stuff that goes in his ear. He's much better now.

The Spring costume contest at HorrorFind -- my grandmother passed away on Easter Sunday and the competition was the following Saturday.

And again, I have to keep it together for the costume contest at HorrorFind -- and it's really hard from my own injury, my husband's surgery, now the dog.  It's nearly like there has to be off the chain behind the scenes drama whenever I enter a competition.

IF ANYONE WAS WONDERING...YES, I'M SCARY!LOL
