Hey, we did it. I have to call the restaurant this week, and find out what their cutoff date is for reserving the party room for October 18. We are all going to go out to dinner, in costume, and freak out the boring people. A couple of tips, if you are considering doing this with your group: Call the restaurant well in advance, make sure they are ok with it. Ask people to wear 'appetizing' costumes. No severed limbs, no running sores, nothing that squirts fake blood. Keep everything G rated. And be ready to enforce this. Don't make the restaurant manager do it for you; you won't be allowed back next year. Throw out anybody dressed as a maggot-infested pile of doggy doo, or a giant condom, or anything not appropriate for viewing by small children with food in front of them. The point is to boost the image of your group, not to form a reputation as the most disgusting vomit trigger in a hundred-mile radius. Save the horror themes for a private venue. Collect a deposit. Tell everyone no last-minute additions or cancellations. The restaurant will go nuts if you reserve for 4 people, and 20 show up. They won't be any happier if you reserve for 20, and 4 show up. I'm collecting a $5 non-refundable deposit. If somebody decides to stay home and give the dog a bath, instead of showing up, their $5 will still get spent at the restaurant. If they do show up, I'll have a stack of 5's with me, so they can use it to buy their dinner. It's one more way to keep the welcome mat out for your group.

Sounds like a very fun idea. Good advice for anyone else who might want to try it, as well. I think I'd make that a $10. deposit though...just a little more motivation to show up as planned!
Have a great time!
