I've always loved Halloween. I've been asked several times why I choose Halloween over X-mas as my personal favorite. I guess growing up poor had a lot to do with it. At Christmas there wasn't much, and I always dreaded going back to school with all the other kids bragging about what they got.
With Halloween, we never had store bought costumes, couldn't afford them. My mom would start hunting through thrift stores for costume ideas in late summer. We always had cool costumes no matter how much money we had. You could trick or treat right next to the rich kids in their plastic costumes and everyone got the same treatment.
