When Good Ghouls Go Bad
Posted On 02/08/2010 03:22:41 by Ceme-Terry

Im watching a movie right now on SyFy called "When Good Gouls Go Bad." There was nothing else on tv and it said that this was a comedy themed around halloween so i tho't i'd give it a shot.

Starring Christopher Lloyd, it couldnt be that bad (although he has been in far too many movies). Well, i wasnt too impressed at first, thinking the comedy was very "juvenile" and not all that funny. I did a quick IMDB search (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0279513/#comment) and realized it was an R. L. Stine story, author of the children's "GOOSEBUMPS" book and tv series. OK, noooow i get it. Armed w/ this info it made alot more sense and im now enjoying it more. Its a really cute movie and i recommened it as a good family halloween movie.

Here's the plot: "In October of 1981, Curtis Danko, the creepy kid from the small town of Walker Falls, was killed in a mysterious accident. He left behind a warning to the town: "If you ever have another Halloween again, I will return and destroy you all!" Curtis was buried in a locked crypt, along with a sculpture so evil, that unearthly fates were said to await anyone who looked at it. Now, 20 years later, the Walker men have returned to Walker Falls. They start a chain of events that unleashes an army of zombies on the town. Has Curtis Danko risen from the grave to exact his revenge? And will the people of Walker Falls make it through the night?"

One bit of trivia is that it was filmed in Australia at the FOX Studios in Sydney.

So, if you come across this straight-to-dvd movie on tv or happen to find it at your local movie store i recommend adding it to your halloween/horror dvd library.

Frankenstein meets the Wolfman, started as a joke.  A story man suggested they should do "Frankenstein wolfs the meat man-I mean Frankenstein meets the Wolfman."  They actually took the joke seriously.  The big loser here was Bela Lugosi.  He had rejected doing the monster back in 1931, because he thought he'd be playing a mindless brute. (In all honestly, if Lugosi had played the Frankenstein Monster, the character would have been.)  Since in "Ghost of Frankenstein" his brillaint Ygor characterization (Lugosi's most under-rated role) the brain of the shepard would be transferred into the monster's body.  Because of the difference in blood type, between the creature and the shepard, the monster (with Lugosi's voice) announced he was blind at the end of that film.  Lugosi could take comfort that the monster would speak, and being blind could have led to a fascinating take on the character.  This could have been a powerful film. Unfortunately, half way through the film, the powers to be decided the monster could see, and not speak.  So now Lugosi was throughly humiliated by playing the mindless brute he was dead set against playing, and a mish-mosh performance resulted.  The film is entertaining, but you have to overlook some of the defects it has.

Yes! I really like that movie! Addam (Oz) and I ended up watching "The Wolfman" (original) and "Frankenstein Meets The Wolfman" lastnight.... Ya just can't beat a good classic and all three of these movies are fun to watch.

About "Frankenstein Meets The Wolfman" though, geez, there were all sorts of boo-boos in it. Ex: The wolfman wakes up in a hospital as Lawrence Talbot, decked out in his jammies, then the full moon, he turns into the wolfman, you see him morph and the next scene, he's outside in his regular clothing, killing a cop. Next shot, he's back in his hospital jammies wondering what happened... Umm, last time I checked, werewolves don't change clothes during the full moon - there are more important things to do, right? lol Oh well, it made us giggle, but still worth the viewing.
