I was looking for the papier mache workshop but I haven't been able to find it. I want to make a papier mache spider. I decided to use an exercise ball as the body and possible a beach ball as the head. What do I seal it with to make it waterproof?

I've been using the same stuff you use to seal wood. PM is basically wood and glue, right? A good place to check out is Papier Mache Resource They also have a Yahoo group. It's based out of the U.K. so sometimes you have to convert metric measurements but they're very helpful.

We use Spar urethane spray on all our PM projects. We spray before paint and after to seal it well. Remember the paper is what you want to protect not the paint. Always use exterior latex paint if it's going to be outside. A few good coats of urethane should protect most things, unless you live in an extremely wet environment.
