I work at Knott's Halloween Haunt.

And work in the props department for the Haunt.

I recently got a new position.

I'm a Dead Saloon Girl in Calico Ghost Town.

I am sculpting my own mask, molding, casting, painting... All that jazz.

Since it's a female position, I want it to resemble a woman?

It could be a ghouly girl, or maybe half the face burnt off.

I just don't know.

I'm just having creativity block.

I was wondering if anyone could help me with mask ideas?

The only rules are:

Has to be "just dug up" looking.

So no fresh wounds.

It's going to be tough to come up with something that hasn't been done before. Can you corpse the mask like you would do to a Bucky or Blucky? Have an eyeball hanging half. Leathery skin stretched over the skull with a gap to show some teeth.

If you're doing the head, less hair is more.

Do you have to look like the others in a set?

Maybe some maggot like things. Decaying flesh, and exposed bone.

After things die the flesh recedes and exposes more of the teeth, hair and nails.  Eyes seem to bulge.

In addition to the exposed skull, decaying flesh, etc...

How about if you had two bullet holes in your head - one empty and one still occupied with a bullet.  You could occasionally roll your eyes, trying to look at the bullet - like it itches.  You could also make it look like you tried to apply makeup (eyeshadow, etc) to your skull.  Even a dead girl's gotta look presentable. :)

Can you give us a little background on your character?

That would help to tie in with how met your final demise. Did they hang you, were you shot (either by accident, or intentionaly) or an victim of a saloon fire? How long have you been dead? That would show at the rate of decay you want or don't.

How about a plastic centipede, or worm cut into pieces made to look like it's crawling in and out of the holes in your head.  If you take a cork and burn the tip and rub it on your mask you'll get some of the black to come off, but you'll also get that char smell as well.
