Okay, I'll be the first to open this section of the forum.

I'm giving a contest on my haunt's opening night. It's called the "Yell Like Hell Screaming Contest." You can check it out either by going to our website at: Yell Like Hell Screaming Contest

OR

HauntSpace Events

We haven't gotten anyone contestants as of yet. Now, this could be because it's so early yet and the contest doesn't end until the end of September.

Can anyone give any ideas as to how to draw contestants in? It's posted on the 10,000 flyers I had printed and according to my website stats, the pages are looked at quite often.

Just throw out there any ideas you have that might get them to sign up. Oh and lowering the price on the entrance fee probably will NOT be a suggestion I will agree upon.

THANKS!

Empress
I would suggest designing a t-shirt and ask a local business to sponsor having them made. Give them to the contestants after they preform that night, Also a great advertisement for the next year.

You could also ask a local radio station to do a remote broadcast from the event. Ask local area tv/newspapres to do a story or on air annoucement inviting people to register.

Since you are a non-profit charity I think they would be glad to do it.

Those are all great ideas, Frightful1.
Unfortunately, it's not so easy to get radio stations/TV to cooperate.
I thought the fact that we were nonprofit would make it much easier, but last season taught me otherwise.
I don't know...maybe it's me. Maybe I don't have the knack for it.

The entry fee sounds fair since they will all be given a free pass.

Do you think ONLY accepting Paypal may be a hinderence?

Have you tried Communtiy Events Ads with local cable (sometimes free) or newspapers and radio stations offering local calendars of events?

For your online contacts... post photos of your prizes... Want to win this?

I know if you were local I'd scream for the chance to win a changing portrait! I've wanted one for so long.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the advice, BD!

BTW, I have that exact changing portrait. But, she's not part of the prizes. No way am I giving her away!

In the several weeks that has transpired, I have changed the contest to "free entry" and taken away the changing portraits as prizes. This should bring in contestants. We shall see....
