How will it be used and how well does it need to hold up? Cauliflower and jello brains work well but obviously won't hold up for long.

I've never tried this but what about Great Stuff in one of those brain jello molds and then you paint it accordingly? Probably won't feel too realistic but might look good if painted properly. For a icky feel maybe top it off with some slime?

Great Stuff makes great brains!!! I have used them in my Cannibal Meat Shop for the Haunted Hayride. If they are staying put and do not need to giggle that is the way to go and it holds up to outdoor weather!

It has been my experience that the reason they call it "gray matter" is that it is actually pale gray.

Not a very "sexy" color, but you could probably spice is up with some red for blood (broken blood vessels?).  Fat is yellow.  What they heck, you can make it any color you like, but if you are going for realism and recognizability, stick with white and pale gray. Antique the crevices with a dark color so that it will highlight the texture.

Gee Digger you're so picky LOL

Ok, how about putting a spin on this fellow:

He's got a hard skull but that gooey window cling stuff on top (plus the worms). I don't know where to get a sheet of the gooey stuff but you can get a package of the drips and probably cut it and shape it how you want.

I've used those brain molds and Knox (the clear gelatin) and just added food coloring (use gel, not liquid or it will make the gelatin too runny), mixing the colors until they turn the color I like. It looked pretty realistic.

I had an idea for  splattered  brains,  although  I haven't tried it yet. Put up something to cover your wall and you might want to put something on the floor while doing this. Take a balloon add whatever you're using as blood, some hair, maybe bone fragments, insert into balloon then spray in some great stuff. (remember not to much it'll expand fast) then tack it on the wall and smack it. It should give a pretty good brain splat. You might have to touch up with paint if it doesn't mix well with the blood. Let me know if works, I'm going to try it some time soon, pics would be great.            &nb sp;
