In cases like the scene you're suggesting, I usually go with some super tiny speaker, and bore out a spot in a tree. Put that black tree sealant in the hole, then make sure the speaker has a good grill on it. adjust the speaker so its a little too loud. Stick the speaker in the hole, (after plugging any wires ofcourse) and great stuff over it.  "do what you do" to the 'stuff and make it look all stealth.  take a paperclip and put small holes in the 'stuff that work with the surrounding tree bark, and now the speaker that was just a little too loud is just right, hidden, and at approximately shoulder height.  This only really works well on trees with real rough bark though.  I usually use some "misted" flat paint for the speaker wire.  To each their own, but this works for me.  Just remember its there....  Ife lost 2 speakers this way by forgetting where I put them.  D'oh!
