Make up TUTORIAL: Latex Prosthetic application

Tutorial for latex prosthetic make up application:

What you’ll need=

  1. Makeup
    wedge
  2. Mehron
    “No Sweat” or antiperspirant spray
  3. Spirit
    gum
  4. Latex
    Prosthetic
  5. Coordination
    face paints
  6. Small
    makeup face painting bush

Step 1: Preparing the area

First, pick the area you want to apply the prosthetic. Make
sure the area is clean. Then take the Mehron “No sweat”, and put a couple drops
on the wide end of the makeup sponge. If you cannot get the “No Sweat”, then
use an antiperspirant spray, and spray the end of the wedge. After that, wipe
onto the designated area. Let dry. You can tell it’s working, when you feel
your face tighten.

Step 2: Applying the Spirit gum

Next, Take the spirit gum. Most spirit gum has it’s
own brush to apply it. If it doesn’t, then you can use the opposite end of the
makeup wedge. Apply the spirit gum on the skin. Make it thick, and have it
cover a little more area than the latex prosthetic, itself. Add a little spirit
gum to the back of the Prosthetic as well.

Then, you want to take your fingers and gently pat the
spirit gum area on the skin, till it gets tacky. You can tell it’s working,
cause it will become harder to get your fingers off the area.

Step 3: Putting on the Prosthetic piece

Once the area is tacky enough, firmly place the
Prosthetic piece on the area. If it is a small piece, you can put it on there,
very simply. If it is a larger piece, you might want to go a little slower,
starting at the top, and working your way down. Once the piece is applied, tap
and rub on the edges of the piece. This will keep the edges from coming undone.
Let it sit for a couple minutes to let the Spirit gum dry.

Step 4: Blending in the edges

Take the small makeup brush, and using the coordinating
facepaints, blend the edge of the piece into the same shade of the skin. This
may take a while, depending on the shade of your skin.

Step 5: finishing touches

Clean the brush, and using the coordinating paints,
complete the piece. Paint accordingly to how you want it to look. Add blood, or
whatever extra you need.

And you're done!
