Many many many fantasy books/series (Harry Potter, Sword of Truth, Wheel of Time, Darkover, most of David Eddings/Raymond E. Feist to name just a few) but by far my favorite is Terry Pratchett's Discworld series.

We moved from our apartment to our home in 1994, excited to finally have our own grill outdoors. The first week we had it, still unused, it disappeared in broad daylight while we were at work. I learned my lesson that day and don't decorate much outdoors; I refuse to supply the thieves with more goodies. Inside, however, I'm a decorating fiend.
