Painting, photography, clay sculpting, reading (although I don't know that you can call reading a hobby, it's more of an essential I think), gardening...I find many things interesting. I am very drawn to art oriented activities; some of them I am good at and some merely moderately competent, but it doesn't matter. My aim is to enjoy doing them, which I do.
Right now I'm trying to combine a hobby with business by starting a jewelry business (internet of course). I'm very much enjoying creating necklaces, bracelets and other fun stuff like that. I can't wait for October so I can make Halloween themed stuff.
Ok, now it's Halloween at Memnet's Miscellanea. Of course, every day is Halloween.
This owl was actually hanging out in our gazebo. I managed to take his picture, which sort of annoyed him as he promptly flew away. I've altered the picture somewhat by using PhotoImpact 12.

The Witches of Eastwick, Hocus Pocus, all Harry Potter movies, Halloween (the first movie), Psycho (the original), The House of Dark Shadows, House on Haunted Hill (the original, except for that woman who keeps screaming, she drives me crazy), The Haunting (the original), Practical Magic, Beetlejuice, Dracula Has Risen From The Grave (Christopher Lee), The Ghost and Mrs. Muir (very old movie, cute but enjoyable), almost forgot...Big Trouble in Little China...I love that movie...there are many more movies that I really enjoy.

Classical to Trent Reznor. Ok, a little Trent Reznor; most of his stuff is a little harsher than I like. My favorite group (if I can be said to have a favorite) is Jethro Tull. My favorite classical composer is Beethoven.
The first tombstone is from a Salem, Massachusetts cemetery; the second and third tombstones are from the Old Dutch Church Cemetery in Sleepy Hollow, (formerly Tarrytown) New York. The last one (in case you don't know) is the grave of the person who wrote the Legend of Sleepy Hollow.

Murder mysteries, ghost stories, most anything written by Stephen King, Harry Potter (all of them), it just depends on my mood as to what I want to read. I'll even on occasion read a romance novel by Joanna Lindsey; they're sort of like pizza, not good for you but sometimes you just have to have one.

A well designed Halloween graveyard...a nicely carved jack-o-lantern, a cool, crisp and colorful autumn day, sitting next to the fireplace and listening to the wind howl on a dark winter night, campfires, especially when you're telling ghost stories. I enjoy old cemeteries, the older the better and I love wandering through cemeteries at night with my digital camera. I wouldn't say that these things "turn me on", simply that I very much enjoy them.
My idea of a Valentine's Day card
A shot of a section of the Old Dutch Church Cemetery.
A local cemetery on Halloween night. Notice the orbs; probably dust...probably.
I have no idea what is going on in this picture. Looks like bad film, but there isn't any film involved in this shot. It was taken in Salem, Massachusetts...with a digital camera.

Bigotry, trolls, bad manners, rudeness, people who refuse to dress up for Halloween parties, people who are inconsiderate, people who behave as though the world revolves around them. War, poverty, gossip, intolerance, destruction of the environment and the people who claim the environment is just fine despite the mounting evidence that it is not. People who will do anything no matter how destructive it might be, for the sake of money. I find all these things very distasteful.

I'm married (for over 30 years), live in the country and I am and have always been a lover of Halloween and all things Halloween. I used to have quite a few pets...dogs, cats, horses..even a parrot, but now all I have left are a dove, two turtles, a canary and various fish, both marine and freshwater...and a couple of dwarf African frogs. I'd like to get some miniature horses some day, because I love horses and because the barn is so still and empty. I'd like some cats, but my husband is allergic to them and he also has asthma. If I outlive him (which in truth I'd rather not do), I have plans to become a crazy cat lady. ;)
