Oh, I'm sure folks here have already found this site, but I thought it would be worth mentioning cuz I got some neat ideas from it last year:

Library Book

Here's a review of a book I got at my local library, the Haunted House Halloween Handbook, by Jerry Chavez.

Mr. Chavez is a stage magician, so he gives some great tips on setting up scenes based on stage illusions.  These include reflections and clear glass separating parts of a room in a haunted house to allow prtial views that are manipulated by the haunter. He also give instructions on how to create your own latex masks, costumes, makeup, sound and lighting effects.

But I think the most valuable part of this book is directed to those who may be considering going to a professional haunt.  He give worksheets to help keep track of money, personnel, and materials, and walks you through getting permits from your local fire marshal and zoning boards. He tells you how to create safe walk throughs and how to construct sturdy walls inside a temporary haunt space.

The ISBN is 0-7864-2463-X.
