Party Menus and hand-outs

We usually have everyone bring a creepy dish to pass.  It works out well because they can really come up with some great names for normal things.  Last year, our English Bobbie (cop) came with a large platter of Bat Wings and Rat parts and she had several little plastic mice all around the platter.  A PussyCatDoll came with a bucket of vomit and deep fried flesh (it was queso dip and nachos).  Needless to say, it's always fun to see what my crazy friends come up with.

Last year we handed out 'hands' to the TOTer's.  This was a simple non-powdered surgical glove with a few candy corns in the end of each fingertip and filled with non-buttered popcorn.  While these aren't the king-sized snicker bars, the kids did enjoy reaching into the cauldrons and pulling out a hand!  And, since the gloves weren't powdered, they could eat the stuff inside if they really wanted to.  The 'hands' are shown in my profile pic, in case anyone was wondering.  It was a cheap and unusal hand out.

Never knew that?

Scott, we've lived in South Eastern Indiana all our lives and I never knew that about Skyline chilli. I may have to go back and revisit sometime. In my own backyard and never knew that......WEIRD!

Well where to start, storage. At this time I don't have to worry about storage. I am starting over plus I have 2 sheds one is for storage the other is my work shop and storage. the 1st is one of those old tin, it doesn't leak (much) and to my disappointment found out little critters like it. Something decided the alien I built for madlab would make a good dinner and gnawed on it a bit!
As far as expenses I try to do props for as little money as possible. Picking up pieces here and there then building it later. Save my change to buy after Halloween sales. Even started to pickup things at goodwill and places like that to build my props.
By the way just for info the chili dish Stoll is talking about is called simply a 3 way, 4 way, or 5 way depending on how many layers are on the dish.  Spaghetti, chili, cheese, onions,.... can't remember the 5th one.

Group Gallery Question

I was looking at the gallery that had the past winners for the contests? I was wondering, what was the contest when they made an anchor? It's been bugging my curiousity to know what the goal was because it's a big anchor lol.

I love all the winners though, I can't even comment, I mean the tree was great, the sled was great, the dragons, uhg just love it!

Anchor

In this group we are given a SEI (Specific Everyday Item) for the month and we can build any Halloween prop we choose as long as we incorporate that month's SEI. Then the group members vote on which prop they like the best and that is how the anchor was chosen as March's winner. The SEI for March was "cans."

There hasn't really been to many new postings in any of my groups so I wanted to see if people would respond to this...so time to talk Halloween :)

This may be a good topic, however it is not in the right forum.  If you post it in the correct forum then you may get more responses.  The Mad Lab forum is supposed to be for the monthly projects and ideas & feedback pertaining to the Mad Lab.

Thanks, I know that's why we have forums, i just thought since this one group was more active then the others I'm on that it would be fun to post it here so people can have something to talk about while waiting for the contests. :)

I have difficulty storing ALL of my props! Seems none of them fit the conventional closet or box.

I'm planning on doing something spectacular, but not this year. I wanna fill the front yard with all the JOL's I can make and store. That will take time to make and I don't even have a yard yet. GS motto is be prepared, right? I see benches with JOL's, lining the walkway, along the driveway, on the front porch and hanging from the trees. If I can find a brave soul with a ladder, lining the rooftop. Enough of them that people stop their cars to take pictures.  Worthy of a video here and on youtube or some such.

Then we'll see if I can afford to light them all. To go with this is learning to solder LED's.
