"The Other Holiday" (as some Haunters like to call it)
Posted On 11/26/2007 08:11:08
So I was wondering how many of you haunters are getting ready for/decorating for "The Other Holiday" as some of you guys like to call it ... aka Christmas

I am running out of energy.
Posted On 11/11/2007 16:59:36

Alright Haunters... Another season has come and gone. I have almost finished taking down my Halloween Decorations (Still a few nick nacks to take down in the living room)

However, some of you might recall that I mentioned that I was having problems getting motivated into decorating.

I know this is a little off topic but I decorate for the "other holiday" as some of you like to call it. I started decorating as "One of those people" when my parents started buying me decorations piece by piece. Since then it has grown to an obsession. Like Halloween has also done. Eventually I got bored with just haybales and cornstalks.

But I nearly ran out of steam decorating for Halloween. My Christmas Display is nearly three times as big and more time consuming to put up. As a second year college student, and full time actor I am finding it hard to find Time and energy.

I am known for doing both displays. Lots of people would be dissapointed if I didn't do it. I would would probably slump into some sort of depression during the season if I didn't decorate for the "other holiday' outdoors. What do you suggest?

Me as Gravesly the Gravekeeper
Posted On 11/01/2007 13:33:39

Well Haunters another haunt season has come and gone. I hope everyone had as much fun as I did here in TN.

The weather was gorgeous for Halloween. Not too cold, and no rain like last year! Beautiful Haunt weather. The slight breeze kept the fog all over the yard! I was amazed at how everything came together.

Here are a few pictures of me as Gravesly the Gravekeeper.

The last picture was of me and my baby Niece Leah Kate dressed as a Kitty Cat. This was her first Halloween. She will be 1 year old On Nov. 8th.

I got Rolled
Posted On 10/27/2007 23:00:06

My yard got Rolled, TP'd, Toliet Papered, Whatever you want to call it ... It has finally happened. My yard has never been rolled... Luckily it was mostly just the side yard on the other side of the Driveway that only has my two inflatables on display in it... My tree that I have  one of my ghosts in on the main yard got rolled.

I had a show tonight, and my parents are out of town. The Display was turned off, so we got rolled. I'm angry about it but luckily I was able to just go and pull it out of the trees before it got too wet with dew and whatnot... I pulled about 8 rolls worth down out of my trees there are just a few pieces that tore too high up when I pulled them down. I'll go out tomorrow with the extender for a paint roller and get the rest down..

I think I know the culprits of this hideous crime. However I am still pretty ticked off!

Wizards
Posted On 10/27/2007 13:07:17

I was strolling through our Local walmart a few days ago...and I noticed an awesome mask with a long white beard and long white hair that I thought would look awesome for a Wizard Prop. I am considering buying it for next year (I don't have the time or the budget right now to build another prop) ...

However while I think it would be totally awesome to build a Wizard I was wondering how it would look in my yard... I don't have a theme or anything like that... I just have a little bit of everything... I have a witch, a reaper, a couple of ghouls, a Window Phantom, A family plot of tombstones, the huge web, and a coffin. But I was wondering if a Wizard would clash with that ... and if not then how could I incorperate him into the layout. I want to add two more witches to form a coven next year ... would he look odd with the three witches? I don't want to do a 'wizard theme' I just want to incorporate him some how. Any Ideas?

I walked on stilts tonight
Posted On 10/25/2007 21:43:33

Alright so I know I have told some of you guys that I have been cast as the Ghost of Christmas Future in Scrooge the Musical.

This theatre has done many different versions of Christmas Carol... and in every one Christmas Future has worn painters stilts to make him taller and more menacing than the rest of the cast...

Well tonight I took my first walk in the stilts... and I think I did pretty good ... I had two people helping me into them and walking on each side of me.

I sat on a table put them on stood up, with them holding on to my arms walked half way across the room. Then they let go of me... and walk beside me as I walked the rest of the way across without holding on to them while they walked beside me just in case .

Then at the end I turned around by myself with them still at each side and walked all the way across ... I only almost lost my balance twice which is pretty good for a first timer, but the good news is that I didn't fall... Hopefully I won't ever fall... *knocks on wood*

During the show I will have a large wooden staff to hold on to to help me keep balaced. Also the bottom of the robe will have a hoop in it to keep from getting the stilts wrapped up in the fabric. I don't have any pictures yet but I will definately get some of me on the stilts and then of me on the stilts in costume.

Guilty Conscience
Posted On 10/14/2007 17:29:22

Yes ... you read the title of this blog right ... I have a guilty conscience... My dad and I just took five little haunt destroyers and a Mama haunt destroyer off.

Ok so not really destroyers... but five little Cats (old enough to fend for themselves) and the Mama cat off ... Last night when I was out taking pictures of my decorations and I saw them clawing at foam tombstones, climbing up on zombie and witch figures... and It made me mad... This afternoon we took them off... I wanted to take them to a church that is a few miles from our house so that when they have bible study tonight people might see them and take them home and feed them etc... However my dad said it wasn't far enough... so We took them a few more miles off of a main road to a hunters check station... It is that time of year for hunting, and there are houses just a couple miles down the road for it ... it is a heavily wooded area with plenty of mice and like I said the cats are old enough to fend for themselves...

I just have a guilty conscience... So what do you guys think? What is right and what is wrong... We don't have to keep buying milk and food for them... I don't have the element of distress on my haunt anymore... Did I do the right thing?

Of course my mother said something that didn't help my conscience any when I got home... When we got home she said 'Well... wherever you took them to they'll probably die.' ... I can't believe I am blogging on cats. Sigh ... I'm just going to try and not think about it anymore.
