Trash Picked Treasure!
Posted On 05/14/2008 17:38:13

So, there I am, minding my own business, saying Hello to my neighbor and his dog, when my eye  wandered across the street to another neighbors trash. Oh my goodness, what do we have here?! Short story shorter, I am now the proud owner of a cruddy, rusty old wooden wheelbarrow that will be just perfect for hauling skulls through my cemetery scene! I just need to tighten up the nails a bit, but I can picture it now!! Here it is empty...

Happy Walpurgis Night!
Posted On 04/30/2008 18:13:22

Happy Walpurgis Night!
Here's a little wiki for ya:
Walpurgis Night, or Walpurgisnacht, the night from April 30 to May 1, is the night when allegedly the witches hold a large celebration and await the arrival of Spring. In German folklore it is the night of April 30, when witches meet on the Brocken mountain in Germany and hold revels with their gods. A scene in Goethe's Faust Part One is called
"Walpurgisnacht".

In some parts of northern coastal regions of Germany, the custom of lighting huge Beltane fires is kept alive, to celebrate the coming of May, while most parts of Germany have a derived Christianized custom around Easter called "Easter fires".

Adolf Hitler committed suicide on Walpurgisnacht, April 30/May 1, 1945.

So on this arcane night steeped with magic and history, celebrate the coming of spring!

This info was supplied to me by Helena of Dark Candles.

Rat Litter Prop
Posted On 04/26/2008 17:49:54

I love rats, so OF COURSE I wanted the latex Rat Litter prop as soon as I saw it two years ago! But alas, it was just a wee bit (aka A LOT) expensive for me, with all my other holiday needs!
BUT...last weekend I found it through HauntSpace member Caufields online store and it was MUCH cheaper!! ($12.99) So, now I have one!! It obviously arrived quickly, (via UPS) and is everything I ever wanted in a Rat Litter prop!! (You want one now too, don't you?!) Thanks Caufields!!

Even the cats like it!

Another Fantastic Find!
Posted On 04/26/2008 17:27:28

So, every year we have a Yard Sale at my job to raise money for our (elderly) resident's activity fund. We always get tons of donated items from a wide assortment of family and friends. This year I am looking for creepy (or potentially creepy) Christmas items for my Nightmare Christmas theme, and low and behold...my wildest dreams came true!! Two old, electrically animated Christmas dolls came in!!! They are about 2' tall, and their heads kind of loll around, as well as their right arms. This year they will be Christmas Zombies, and next year I'll make them some more proper Zombie attire. I am SO excited!!

(Don't know how much I'll have to pay for them yet, but it'll be a great bargain!)

Ordered More Nox Arcana
Posted On 04/20/2008 19:50:09

After getting a very positive response for playing Nox Arcana's Carnival of Lost Souls at last years Carnival of Terror themed Halloween party, I just HAD to order more for this year. (I love these guys!) So, I just ordered three more... Winters Knight (Christmas theme), Transylvania (Bram Stoker theme), and Necronomicon (H. P. Lovecraft theme).
I'll be ordering their new one Grimm Tales when it comes out next month. Check them out on Hauntspace if you don't already know their stuff.

Started my Tombstones
Posted On 04/20/2008 19:34:22

Yes, after much research and shopping for the proper tools and foam...I Started My Tombstones Today!!

(Okay, so I only cut the foam into the proper sizes, but that's still a start.)

I had gotten one 1'' sheet and one 2'' sheet to start with and I got a dozen various sized stones, plus a cemetary archway out of them. (And useful scraps.)

Can't wait to get on to the next step. This is my first time making them and I am very excited about it. I'll yell if I run into any problems, because I know we have plenty of experts here! (Thanks!!)

Yard Sale Finds
Posted On 04/20/2008 19:23:48

Spring is here! I went with my "Yard Sale Queen" friend yesterday and hit a few of the early season Yard Sales. I was only looking for Halloween things, and especially things for my Nightmare Christmas party theme. This is what I got ...for a grand total of $2.80!!!  A very old spice rack with bottles (can you say "potions"?) A latex hand, a new string of icicle lights, 2 new Santa mugs, a velvet rat, and a very creepy old winking Santa pin. (Only 5 cents for that!) Yippee!!!!

Old Burial Grounds - Marblehead MA
Posted On 03/30/2008 19:27:09

Spent my afternoon yesterday at the Old Burial Grounds in Marblehead MA, taking pictures. My camera battery died, but I got some good ones. Plan to go take more there, and at a cemetary in Salem, in a couple of weeks. Here is an example of the stones. If you want to see all my pics visit:

My New Tattoo!
Posted On 02/24/2008 21:28:52

Last weekend I finally went and got my new Tattoo!  I had gotten most of the $ as Christmas presents, but hadn't gotten the chance to go until now. Thought I'd share it...

And, NO, I won't tell you what the initials stand for!

Footnote: I got it at Masterpiece in Salem, NH and although they did nice work, the people were EXTREMELY rude and unfriendly!!!
