Man, I've had to deal with a lot of bs the past couple of weeks. And I've had this smile painted on for too long. I'm wondering if it's worth it. Especially when I find out that people are talking smack behind my back(No one here, thank god). After this weekend I need to make a decision hauntwise. But I can't talk to much about it here, cause they are out there reading everything I say.
All I know is I'm going out of my mind. Things shouldn't be this difficult to do.
Some of the people on here already know what is up with me, hauntwise. But I thought it would be good to let everyone know from me.
I decided to leave the current haunt I was working for a couple weeks ago, after I had learned that the management of the haunt had been handed off overnight. I had a long talk with the new boss of the haunt, and I got to find out what he had planned with the haunt. And with what I heard, it just wasn't worth my time. And I didn't want the stress of butting heads with the guy all the time. He was nice enough, however, to let me take back my items that I had made for the haunt. Some places won't even let you do that.*cough!cough*
Some people don't really know how hard it is to run a haunted house. Even to have a successful home or yard haunt is tricky. And a professional haunt is tougher, I should know! I'm not gonna dive into what exactly was discussed, but all I can say is that in order for this haunt to survive, it would need to have the customers put up with a lot more guff to have a smooth experience. I wish him luck.
Since then, I had a couple offers to help with haunts this year, and I really want to take people up on their offers, haunting is my life, this is my thirteenth year in the biz, It needs to be a great year for haunters. But even though it may seem sad, this is still a fun time for me. I've been on this site more, and doing the mad lab projects. And I really want to work more with the IN/OH haunters group I'm apart of as well. As for the props I have made, I have decided to make a separate etsy store to sell them on for the bottom dollar. I just want them out of the house, so I can make more. Some people know that I can't hold a 9-5'er, this is the way I make a living. So if you'd be interested to check out my store, it's at http://www.horrorcoreconcepts.etsy.com . I only have a couple Items there right now, but when I have more time, I will put about all of my stuff up there. Thanks for lending an eye!

Wow! I am having so much fun with these new projects! Ever since tha last IN/OH meeting, I have been working a lot on two paper mache/paper clay heads I plan to use In my new haunt. I have put pics up of my first completed project. I've named him "Tronic"short for "Electro-Bionic", and it is giving me a good story line for one of my haunt themes we are doing this year. The next head I am doing is a basic witch head. I have given it it's base coat, and painted eyebrows, lashes, and lipstick. I need to put the eyes in next. I would love to thank Murray for this process!
Ok, So I love making Props and costumes and everything else for haunts and halloween and whatnot. but I have no room to keep any of it with me where I live. So I have made an ETSY accound to sell all of my creations. It's done a little business, But I don't think the right crowd is there for the stuff I make. So anyone reading this know that I am selling these Items for you! If you go to http://www.junkpunk.etsy.com, You will see all kinds of things you could be able to use for your haunt, or costume. Recently, I have put up a gothic shirt, Doctor's Lab coat, custome made jason mask, Undermask, Zombie lucha mask, gothic skull candle bottle, Fake Poop, even custom made Horror action figures. They are all priced very reasonably, and would help me get out of my rut, and help you spook up your haunt. And It accepts paypal. So, please go check it out, and give a monster a little help On a side note: Once I move into my new home, I will start on a series of how to dvd's to help everyone.
Something wonderful happened yesterday. I had another friendly haunt, which will go unnamed, Send me a link to Ohiovalleyhaunts.com. It was their 2007 review. And I love it.
"ACTORS - 8, Well hidden throughout, but seemed as though
the cast was downsized in comparison to last year. Loss of Grinner
and his trusty barbed wire covered baseball bat is most unfortunate.
Still some pretty good interaction and intensity, but pales in comparison
to the lengthier, ’06 installment. " Man, out of all the people that left, they mentioned me! So, according to this review board (Which is a prestigious haunt review site in the Midwest), I did matter to that haunt. here is the whole review for the haunt for this year: http://reviews07.ohiovalleyhaunts.com/frightmanor.html
So, The second weekend is gone, and we had done a great job with the haunt! They have had a shaky two years in the business, this being the third. The past two years they were in the red after the seasons were over. We just had what he said was their biggest night. We are trying to fix the damage from years past. Most people are reluctant to come cause of what they heard from the years before. But this year, it's a different story. People leaving our haunt are totally impressed. One guy even went as far as to say we've upgrade from "Alright" to "The Sh!t!!!". and That makes me feel good, cause they told me that when I came in they didn't know what to do for this year, but I am saving the day for their haunt. Which is a real ego booster. Even makes me know that I never really need the assholes from my old haunt. And I heard what they were doing this year for their haunt, and it sounds like we wounded them pretty bad, when we all quit for them screwing us over. Oh, yeah, they'll pay off a couple "Haunt reviewers" to give them a good boost in the papers, like they did the years before. But, The avid haunters know that they are doing bad this year, and that's great for me to hear. Either way, I feel that if the haunt I'm with goes another year or not, I plan to start a charitable haunt for a couple small groups I know.
So, it's been almost a week since i left transworld halloween show for home, and i must say... It was well on it's way out since i first went there 7 years ago. It was still a blast and everything, but for haunters, It lost its legs in 2005. Every year, they loose a couple of the good prop booths. And the booths that stay loose their creativity. Each booth this year had almost the same ideas! come on! get creative. And scarefactory almost had all of their props broke down by saturday. I guess someone was badly injured by some badly placed lights as well on friday. Scare factory is a death trap. And i went to distortions to see why they never sent their maskmaker kit to me, they said they had my name on file, but the person who made the sale left with all of the important information. Prop people were really short with us, and would only talk to us if we were holding out our checkbooks or credit cards. But let me tell you, the haunt portion is going to take a big hit when it all moves to Las Vegas. That is an area for RETAILERS. The haunt portion will lose its ass. atleast we will still have MHC in Ohio. But I do have to say, Working DreamReapers was a blast on saturday night! it was possibly one of the best haunts I've ever had to work for.
