made a little progress today.. Slapped together six crosses for my graveyard... tearing the skid apart for the wood was a real pain tho... almost have my zombie head finished... not sure if i'm loving him or not.. he looks kinda ... well.. s l o w .. if ya know what i mean.. hmmm.. then again, he's a zombie .. will get pics posted soon (i hope) I really need to get some bodies assembled... can't have just a bunch of heads laying around... oh wait.. yes I can! LOL ok.. that's it for now... BOO!
Been a while since I've posted.... things have been crazy around here but..... our new in ground pool is finally finished! just in time to close it up... booo.... but we'll be ready for next year... I finally got the third 10' x 4' skid from my neighbor so now I can get my cemetery fence done (as in painted) and then figure out how in the heck i'm gonna make it stand.. those skids are freaking heavy! I finished a second corspe head.. will post pics soon.. and I got another brainstorm for yet another head... (I gotta quit doing that).. I've started stuffing body parts, only need a gazillion more .. and I have one set of hands done (but need to paint) I want to make a bunch of crosses for my graveyard as I only got 4 tombstones done and will need some "filler"... My hope is to start setting up this weekend, but Saturday I have to take my grandson to a cub scout event early in the day, so perhaps early evening I can get my big boys to help with some stuff. I figure I need to get some of these things cleared out of my front room so I can figure out what I have and what I need. I finally got Joe and Bridgette (my mannequins) all dressed up.. I found a nice burgundy velveteen type dress for Bridgette at Goodwill for 4 bucks! so much to do.. so little time... and my brain absolutely WILL NOT turn off! and wouldn't you know it, I have to take time out of my day to do things like... oh... feed my family, deal with the animals and dang work gets in the way too. what o what is a haunter to do? ok, that's my rant for now...
well.. I finally got the pics up of my corpsed skull.. I am anxious to see what you guys think. This was my very first ever attempt at corpsing.. The first stage of the skull was posted earlier... the skull is paper mache', the shoulders are formed wtih chicken wire and paper mache', the throat/windpipe is a piece of pool pump hose and, of course, the teeth are fake fingernails Then I used carpet adhesive to gunk it up, some paint/stain, some polyurethane sealer stuff and wisps of hair from a costume wig... Ok.. let the comments come rolling in
First off.. I got a great freebie yesterday! my neighbor picked up a skull with a diffuser and green LED lights - for FREE and gave it to me!! how cool is that? I have finally finished my groundbreaker skull/bust thing... he looks pretty good.. will get pics posted. I have my oil lanterns painted black and ready to go. I got the 1.99 goodwill candleholder all gussied up - it will make a fine addition My cemetery fence got its first coat of white wash, or should I say, gray wash... now once it ever stops raining I can work on the distressing I put new hinges on my coffin (now how often do you get to say THAT?) Got new batteries for my bumble ball and tossed it into the barrel i had painted last year.. Put the lid on the barrel, put the barrel on its side and it sure sounds like something is skittering around in there - the bumble ball also makes the barrel rock back and forth just ever so slightly - I think it will make a great prop! This weekend I got all my boxes and bags and containers and such out of the shed... the front room looks positively ghastly right now So all in all, things are looking pretty promising. I figure if I can get some of the smaller projects out of the way (and get that instant gratification) waiting to get some of the bigger projects done won't feel so painful... that's it for now..
Well, I managed to sneak out for a while today... First stop was the Goodwill. Found a neat candleholder that has potential...actually 2 candleholders... Then on to BigLots... I found these oil lanterns for 2.99! i picked up 2. They are red, and I plan on painting them black and spooking them up a bit. Not sure if I will go for using lamp oil or modify them for votive candles or tea lights.. any hoo... Will get pics up as I can.. oh.. also hit Dollar General a couple of days ago. They had these skull stakes for a buck a piece - i bought 4. Think I'll go back and get a few more. You just can't have enough skull stakes. and then there was Walgreen's... found some small foam tombstone thingies that I thought would work on my yet to be assembled wooden crosses as embellishments... I also finally got brave and opened up my can of carpet adhesive and started in on what will hopefully end up being a ground breaker. My first attempt at corpsing and all... He's still drying (3 days now) but I am hopeful that he'll be pretty well set in a couple more days and then I can start painting/staining/or whatever else I can think of. I need to get my halloween 'stuff' out of the shed to see what I have, and what I need... this weekend sounds like a good time to do this All in all, things are looking mighty promising at this point... and I am just happy as a pig in poo!
Hubby has finally acknowledged the fact that Halloween is my obsession! and he thinks i need a pill for it... har har.... that's it..
woo hoo! my neighbor finally brought me the skids/pallets he promised me.. 10 feet long, 4 feet high.... the board spacing is PERFECT... this will be used for my cemetery fence. all i need to do is distress it (perhaps a week or two out in the yard with my 5 dogs will do the trick?) nah... i'm gonna work on those suckers this weekend.. a little paint here, a little moss there, some of this, some of that.. I'm so excited!
