Check out these instructions for 'modding' a flintlock squirtgun into a cool pirate prop. These are great instructions for aging anything to make it appear to be metal or wood.

Just to give credit where it's due, I found out about this instructable on the Makezine.com blog. It's a great place for those of us who love to create and build new things.
OH MY GOD!
Take a look at this animated Halloween cake!
That's right... ANIMATED! It has a opening coffin and a rocking tombstone. It has a jumping spider. It even has a miniature flying-crank-ghost!
A freakin FCG!
WOW!

Not all of it is cake, but it's still cool. Check it out on instructables.com at http://www.instructables.com/id/Animated-Halloween-Cake/
I have some ideas bouncing around in my head and thought I would air them here. My front door is painted Hunter Green, and does not inspire the terror I want in trick-or-treaters. So I've thought about ways to make the door more imposing. I considered covering the door in thin cardboard, which in turn would be covered with wood-grain contact paper. But the door is not flat and the cardboard would likely rip when the TOT’s knock on an area over one of the recessed panels. I’ve decided that the best idea may be to replace the door with a cheap hollow-core interior door, if only for Halloween night. The door will then be stained and distressed to look like a massive oak door. I can attach anything I want to the door, including large iron doorknockers Other ideas: 1. Making the door open by itself. First, tie a string to the doorknob. Then attach the other end of the string to the wall on the hinge-side of the door. The string should sag slightly. Attach a weight to the middle of the string. I suggest a small plastic soda bottle, filled with sand or water, with a hook screwed into the plastic cap. When the door handle is turned, the weight will pull the door open. Place a few throw pillows on the floor between the door and the wall, so the door will slow and stop when fully open, without banging into the wall. It looks like this, except it pulls the door open, instead of pulling a gate closed .

Now we need to be able to open the door from a distance. You can buy a device that converts the doorknob into a lever for handicap use.

Or you can clamp a Quick-Grip clamp to the doorknob and use it as a lever.
Tie a string to the end of the lever, and run it though hooks in the door, wall, and/or ceiling. You will want to be able to pull the other end of the string while standing far back from the door, but still have the string fall out of view before the door fully opens. Now, when you pull the string, it pulls the lever on the knob. The weight begins to pull the door open and you drop the string. The TOT’s will see the door mysteriously open on its own and glide to a stop (against the pillows behind the door). 2. Haunted Door Knocker “What knockers!” “Thank you doctor!” Fashion a large gothic door knocker out of the material of your choice. The part attached to the door should be hollow. Inside the knocker, attach a lever to the moving part of the knocker (what is this called?) then attach a string to it and run through a hole in the door. When the TOT’s knock on the door, you can make the door knocker knock in reply by pulling on the string. 3. Peepholes Cut a rectangular hole in the door at eye level, and one at waist level. Cover with small sliding partitions. When the young (short) TOT’s arrive, first look through the peep hole at adult eye-level. Mutter something about seeing nobody. When they knock again, look though the waist-level peep hole and say “Oh! There you are!” This works even better if the peepholes are not immediately noticeable. Any other suggestions or ideas?
For those of you with a demonic bent in you, here is a video with instructions to make some real fireballs to play with.

The new Cofanifunebri 2008 Calendars are out! Only $17, including shipping!
Cofanifunebri is an Italian coffin manufacturer, which has a unique way of marketing their coffins. Pictures of each coffin are invariably accompanied by a bikini clad woman (sorry ladies, no men). Cofanifunebri has collected 12 of these photos into a calendar that is sure to make a unique addition to your office or home.
While you are there, check out their other products, such as the coffin shaped pen holder, the “got formaldehyde” T-shirt, or the “time is short” coffin watch.
Prices are in euros, so use Google to convert to dollars. For example, typing in “12 euros to dollars” returns “17.27400 U.S. dollars”

Apparently there are these things called "cell phone Kewpie Charms" that are all the rage in Japan (Oh those wacky Japanese!).
Anyway, there is a new series of somewhat disturbing kewpie dolls out from this company: http://www.strapya-world.com/products/24168.html
I thought that the HauntSpace community would get a kick out of this one:
Midnight Syndicate is selling off their stock of their first 2 CD's "Born of the Night" and "Realm of Shadows".
These had previously been unavailable due to a legal issue with Joseph Vargo who did some of the vocal work on the CD's and then split with the band to form Nox Arcana.
If you don't have these, I HIGHLY reccomend them. Get them fast before they are gone.
