Guess what I saw at Wally World
Posted On 10/12/2008 23:25:23

I know it's a cardinal sin to mention Christmas right now, BUT when I was walking through to find something in the Halloween section I spotted something in the Christmas section that I know I'm gonna need.  BLACK CHRISTMAS TREES!!!!  4 ft tall black christmas trees!!!  I think they also had red but I was so enthralled by the black ones I didn't really look.  That for sure will be something worth going to the after Christmas sales for!!!

I have the best Mom...
Posted On 10/10/2008 10:28:16

She's been in Michigan since March for my Grandmother's minor surgery(which she's long since recovered from, but I think my Mom is on extended vacation, she doesn't want to come back LOL)  Plus, Michigan has better yard sales than Nevada!!!

Anyway, I asked her to keep her eyes open for some unique Halloween stuff and she has come through with FLYING colors!  She found some bone lights, which I use to put around the yard, a 1950's fake syringe toy that goes in the cabinet as a fun item, some great fabrics and a few little things.  I may be the freak in the family, but I guess my Mom is trying to feed the madness!!!  YAY Mom!!!

Please bear with this rather odd blog

I'm at work and I can't access this site, but I won't remember the address by the time I get home.  This is a link to a site where you can watch movies online for free.  This particular link goes to the 1931 version of Dracula with Bela Lugosi.  I need to do a review for it for my vampire class.

I'm so Proud!!!
Posted On 10/02/2008 22:29:51

I drove through my neighborhood and in the last 24 hours I've seen 4, count them 4, houses decorated for Halloween!!!  Mostly cutesie stuff, but decorated none the less!!!

And so it begins...
Posted On 10/01/2008 23:30:46

I started today on the outside decorations and OH how the neighbors are THRILLED!!  I swear I could hear the thoughts from across the street- "Oh crap she's doing it again" LOL

Anyway, I got the skull fence up as well as the sign post and I pulled out the wooden coffin/rat box.  I would have liked to get more done but it's still 95 degrees at 3 p.m. here and a bit tough to work outside.  By the time it's cool enough, there's about an hour of light left.  Ahh well, I'll slowly get it all up I guess.

Question about pumpkins
Posted On 09/29/2008 20:51:24

Please keep in mind that I'm in Vegas and it's still 90 degrees outside.  How long can I keep pumpkins before they go bad?  Not carved of course.  I saw some CRAZY good-looking pumpkins at Sams the other day and I'd love to pick some up, but if they go bad, what's the point?

I have been verified!!!
Posted On 09/26/2008 18:12:38

So I had to go to the home owners association meeting the other night and while there I asked how soon I could put up holiday decorations.  When they said 30 days before I was ok with that, but a bit dissapointed.  The funny thing was one of the board members is a neighbor on my street and he laughed when he saw my face and said to the other people "She's the Halloween House, she'd put stuff up now if you let her!!!"  I had to smile about that...  I am offically the "Halloween House"

Another reason to LOVE Target
Posted On 09/20/2008 22:08:19

I was making my rounds around the local stores and I am really happy about what Target has this year!  Nothing as far as large props, but some cool lighting stuff and some very cool party stuff!  I found this tombstone:

They've got a few others that are pretty nifty and I know I'll be spending a bit more money there...  SIGH...

But, I am really dissapointed with the rest of the stores I went to..  Sears, JC Penny's and Lowes are all done and nothing good.  I only went to these places to see about Lemax stuff and NOBODY is carrying the line.  Lowes even said in a few weeks the Halloween stuff is going on sale and they were actually putting up CHRISTMAS displays!!  2 full isles!!  WITH TREES!!!!  Halloween has an end cap and a small display and that's it!!!  GGRRRR!!!

We're corrupting Russia!!!
Posted On 09/19/2008 13:44:19

According to Russia, we Americans are ruining their purity.....  This was in USAToday.com:

MOSCOW — Russia is opening a new front in its battle with the West over last month's fighting in neighboring Georgia: a move to ban the Western holidays of Halloween and Valentine's Day as bad influences on the nation's youth.

The State Duma, Russia's lower house of parliament, will consider a measure this month to guard students from what the government considers destructive Western influences, such as the two festive celebrations that are growing more popular in Russia.

Maxim Mishchenko, a Duma member, says he is pushing the bill to guard the "moral and spiritual upbringing" of the nation's youth and to promote traditional Russian culture and values rather than those imported from the West.
