Dedication to the Halloween Witch
Posted On 09/17/2008 20:37:30

THE HALLOWEEN WITCH

Each year they parade her about, the traditional Halloween Witch. Misshapen green face, stringy scraps of hair, a toothless mouth beneath her deformed nose. Gnarled knobby fingers twisted into a claw protracting from a bent and twisted torso that lurches about on wobbly legs. Most think this abject image to be the creation of a prejudiced mind or merely a Halloween caricature. I disagree, I believe this to be how Witches were really seen.

Consider that most Witches were women, were abducted in the night, and smuggled into dungeons or prisons under the secrecy of darkness to be presented by light of day as a confessed Witch. Few if any saw a frightened normal looking woman being dragged into a secret room filled with instruments of torture, to be questioned until she confessed to anything suggested to her and to give names or what ever would stop the questions.

Crowds saw the aberration denounced to the world as a self-proclaimed Witch. As the Witch was paraded through town en route to be burned, hanged, drowned, stoned or disposed of in various other forms of Christian love all created to free and save her soul from her depraved body, the jeering crowds viewed the results of hours of torture. The face bruised and broken by countless blows bore a hue of sickly green. The once warm and loving smile gone replaced by a grimace of broken teeth and torn gums that leers beneath a battered disfigured nose. The disheveled hair conceals bleeding gaps of torn scalp from whence cruel hands had torn away the lovely tresses. Broken twisted hands clutched the wagon for support, fractured fingers with nails torn away locked like groping claws to steady her broken body. All semblance of humanity gone this was truly a demon, a bride of Satan, a Witch.

I revere this Halloween Crone and hold her sacred above all. I honor her courage and listen to her warnings of the dark side of man.

Does Anyone Make spooky signs?
Posted On 09/17/2008 13:52:28

I've been thinking about the post BillyBogart put up about having a sign to tell trick or treaters they don't get anything without a costume.  Would anyone consider making one of these rather inexpensively?  Something about oh, 8-12 inches long maybe 6-8 inches high and kinda creepy cemetary look?  I have no ability to cut wood at my house or I'd do it myself.  I ask the true question is does anyone have TIME to do it???

It has begun at my house

Last night I started pulling everything from the garage and cleaning the inside in preperation....  The fiance came home and said "Whatever makes you happy", I was FLOORED he didn't give me a hassle about it AND has agreed to go with me to the Halloween store that just opened.  So, I have been taking down everything in the china cabinets and the bathroom and shelves to make room.  I lost 2 hours of valuable time cuz I thought one of my dogs got loose and ran away and I had to try and find him.  Turns out he was in the back yard afrad to come out cuz I was yelling for him.

So, now there are 11 Halloween storage boxes around the house taking up room and I can't wait to empty them!!!!

I'm frustrated....

There is WAY to much cool stuff out there that I want to buy and I am BROKE!!  GGRRRRRRR!!!  I went to Hallmark today and they have Nightmare Before Christmas Keepsake Ornaments.   Plus there are some really cute Halloween beanie babies this year.  PLUS, Michaels has a bunch of stuff on sale this week because of the 1000 opening store or something.  If you need it at Michaels, it's more than likely on sale right now.  I did pick up one of the big white craft pumpkin for $10!!  Even the Martha Stewert stuff, which never goes on sale, is 30% off this week.  I thought I planned better for the season and I'm still running out of money.  SIGH, how does that happen every year???

Found some other cool things today

I was at Albertsons today, (grocery store on the west coast) and they had PURPLE glow sticks!!!  They also had small feathered crows for $2 and some neat little things that grocery stores are known to have.  I've never seen purple glow sticks before!!

Has anyone been to K Mart???
Posted On 09/09/2008 00:15:06

Has anyone been cuz I want to know if they put out the Coventry Cove village pieces yet?  I know they will probably carry the pieces I'm missing for the display this year.

Look OUT!! WAL MART has their stuff out
Posted On 09/07/2008 14:37:01

SO I was in Wal Mart and maybe (hopefully) 1/2 of the stuff is out.   I found some decent skulls and a few other things that are worthy, but mostly the cutesy stuff.  Target has the big plastic cauldrons for $5.99 so you know I picked one of those up.  They didn't have much else out, but they are still clearing out the back to school stuff.  Finally, our season has arrived!!!!

Look what the Dollar Tree has!!!

I found these today-- purple rubber skull ice cube trays!!!  They also had pumpkin ones but I liked the skulls better!!  These are so cool!!

I need to find a "water" mat for a miniature display.  I haven't seen one lately and I need one for the Lemax display.
