So much that I'm making now isn't really scary so I hesitate to put it in the gallery next to the bloody heads and such. So I'll stick them in blogs for now. This is the latest:
I uploaded Orphan Edythe to the gallery, so thought I'd splain. She is available at Ebay right now and has no bids. I think that's a shame.
Here is the link in case you're interested.
Had my second bad headache of the year today and it's only January 14! Sometimes sleeping during the day gives me a turtle headache. You know, when you're snuggled under the covers when it's cold, then you wake up with the sun shining and a ba-ad headache. Didn't help that they're tearing up the pool again. Waking to sledgehammers ain't my idea of a good time. Maybe I'm getting the headaches out of the way for the year.
So I have projects in the works, trying to get to a CalHauntS meeting next month, getting back into clay. I'm here in spirit if not in body.
16" artificial wreaths were on sale at Michaels for $2 so got two. This is the saga of the one with a purple theme. There are two strings of the lights from Ikea on it that have been dyed purple. Click here to see dyed lights A box of a dozen small purple Christmas ornaments have been painted with various Hallo themes. They're hung on the wreath for now just to get an idea how much space they'll take.
I'm playing with ideas for pieces to fill in with foam pieces covered in Pearl Ex and/or glitter and/or embossing powder. Maybe make some polymer clay pieces, too. It all depends on how full I want this puppy. I've decided to take the loops out of the tops of the ornaments and hot glue them directly onto the wreath. Also going to paint the gold tops cuz they're really distracting.
Yukky because I've been sick since the 1st. Maybe something I ate, or the latest flu. I dunno, but I've been spending a lotta time in the bathroom. When I wasn't doing that, I was working on a new technique (for me anyway) of painting on store-bought ornaments using Pinata inks. If you get it right, they look a lot like the spensive glass ornaments. Here's my page so far
Resolution Number One: get started losing the 70 lbs. I put on. Whether I lose all or part, GET STARTED. Put the cookies down!
Resolution Number Two: Get in touch with people. All the people I've wondered about for years are prolly find-able on the internet. START FINDING. Resolution Number Three: Stop kicking myself for past mistakes. I can't change them, but I can apologize. If apology isn't accepted, at least I tried. Then PUT THEM AWAY. Resolution Number Four: Get out of the house more. Turn off the computer (eep) and the TV (egads) and GO. Resolution Number Five: Work on making my environment more toe friendly. I have a bad habit of putting down whatever I'm working on, wherever is easiest then bumping into them later. PUT IT AWAY
Resolution Number Six: Go through old projects. Finish at least one before starting another. Throw out those I no longer am interested in. USE IT OR LOSE IT If I can do half of this, I will consider it a good year.
While googling wreaths to decide how to put a garland on a Hallo wreath, I came across these houses click here Too tame for hard core haunters, but some cool ideas for those who are less extreme.
This morning T and I exchanged stockings. His was full of dollar toys like we used to get when we were kids. A small magnetic fishing game, Silly Putty, dinosaurs in gelatin capsules. And candy of course. He gave me a swimsuit, tins of smoked oysters (which I love) and let me sleep in while he visited his family. (They are morning people, I am not) I don't know which I appreciate more. T's brother Joseph is in Colorado and they awoke to fresh snowfall so they are having a true White Christmas. Two of the Stolloween skull ornies went to T's nephews and they immediately hung them on the tree! His sister adores her boys and if they're happy, she's happy. She gave me a gift card to Michaels craft store so I may brave the day-after-Christmas sales. Hoping to find a tabletop tree that I can spray paint black. It's now a little after 3 pm. The sun is shining on the porch, dogs are barking but otherwise it's very quiet. TV is off and I can hear the clock ticking of the seconds. Already thinking about what I'm going to make with trash bags for the Mad Labs contest. LOTS of ideas. Thinking ahead to trivia games if HS members are interested enough to make a go of it. This has truly been a Halloween year, even during December. Thanks to all of my friends here for welcoming me to the group. Hope we share many happy memories in the future.
I've been playing with the idea of starting a new group with weekly trivia games. We would meet in chat, prolly Wed. night and I would post questions in the chat room. 20 questions every week with points for each questions. At the end of each month, point leader would get a prize. Prize would be posted in the group at the beginning of each month. A leader board would show the running point totals. Proposed subjects: Horror/Slasher Movies; Horror/Slasher Books; Classic Monster Movies; SciFi/Fantasy Movies; SciFi/Fantasy Books; Anything Goes (Halloween traditions and any of the above mixed in) Is there enough interest in this? Let me know and we can start February 1st. I have promises of prizes already, so talk to me!
