ive been out of the state working for the past almost 2 weeks and havent had much access to a computer.. is it too late for me to put in an order for a t shirt? i thought i saw something about it on here before but im not sure where i saw it..some info would be greatly appreciated.. hopefully i can still get one.. if not.. well that sucks for me to have an on the road with no computer job.. haha..
so ive been in pittsburgh since monday..and although its been great since i got to work.. hang with old friends..and see the BODIES exhibition.. for the first time ever i didnt bring any projects with me to work on.. so needless to say.. ive been browsing all over the net for the past 9 hours (seriously).. i dont know i havent gone crazy yet.. but here its really not that strange since the friend we are staying with literally has 4 computers surrounding him and the person i came with is totally occupied playing world of warcraft for hours on end (hehe..im not one of those guys).. anyways.. in all of my searching.. i found on the hauntprojects page a link.. if you check out zombietronix.com.. under calculators click on biped.. if you put in any specific height.. it calculates the exact length of every bone on the body that you would need to build a body.. presumably out of pvc.. i just found it helpful.. not that its too hard to just eyeball it.. but thought it was a neat link to share.. ive built 3 chicken wire and pvc children and will next be working on a few adult sized bodies.. until next time..may all your days be filled with horrible images and horrifying circumstances..
so i got a call to go work for alicia keys in pittsburgh on tuesday.. so i figured.. well.. i have a few days off so ill not only get an opportunity to work and see friends.. but also do something ive wanted to do for years.. im gonna see BODIES.. and i am SUPER excited for it.. it all works out because i planned on seeing it when i go back to pittsburgh for a show on May 10th.. only to find out thats it leaving May 1st.. im so excited its ridiculous that timing actually played well on my side.. ill try to get pics but im not sure if thats able to happen.. i have a guilty conscience when it comes to being respectful.. ive spent my weekend getting almost all of the corpsing done for my chicken wire children.. assembing them and working on the details is all i have left and ill do that when i get back into town.. give it a few weeks and the full thing will be up and ready for showing..haha.. ill be back into town on wednesday and although i wont be able to get much physical work done with my props.. i will be working for the circus thursday thru sunday.. its the big circus too with all the animals and bello the clown.. and i have been looking forward to it for months because i am doing a clown room in my haunted house this year.. so im looking forward to the fact that im sure that sometime in the 7 shows in 4 days.. im going to be inspired and come up with some amazing ideas for my room.. i complain a lot about the crappy aspects of my job.. but i guess when it comes down to it.. i get to see and do things a lot of people dont.. every day is a different day and it helps with creativity when you are surrounded literally with thousands of other peoples ideas.. my occupation suits me.. i cant be stuck in one room for 40 hours a week.. i refuse to close my eyes to all the things that there are to see.. oops.. i made this super long again.. where is my mind? haha.. may you all have disturbing dreams and unpleasant thoughts..
i hope everyone is doing okay and making progress with their current projects and ideas.. i once again have been working on the road bouncing all over the state working in arenas and theatres and stupid little political gigs.. only one more day! tomorrow i have to once again set up and work for bill clintons political rally (i go where the money is..haha..) and then i have 2 whole days off before working a show on sunday im sure will make me want to kill myself.. (jordin sparks and flo ridah.. blah) anyways..before i go completely off in a whole other rampage about sitting through concert after concert of crappy music.. i just wanted to drop a line to let everyone know my own progress of my chicken wire children.. i have the hands prepped and ready for painting and staining.. i have one skull out of three sort of ready to go.. but the problem is ive never worked with expanding spray foam before and this of course is when i chose to use it.. i think i hate it.. my skull turned out WAY bigger than i had planned so next time i know to use way less.. i shaved it down a bit with a razor blade and gave it some shape.. it doesnt look too bad but im not completely happy.. i gave it a little test run with liquid wood stain and it doesnt seem to be taking too well.. im going to try to use the gel kind..hopefully i will get better results.. anyone have any kind of suggestions whatsoever? anyone who has worked with the foam before have any tips or tricks when using or painting? im sure i can just figure it out on my own.. i always do.. but thats what you all are here for right? haha.. im one of those people that has a hard time asking for help.. i tend to like to think i can do it all on my own (im not arrogant really.. i just hate being a pain in the ass always asking questions) but again.. if anyones got anything.. let me know cause my time is limited and i really want to show you all and myself the end result.. thanks everyone.. ill talk to you all soon..
sooo.. i adopted a little ghoulie from creepy collection..her name is rhonda and i absolutely adore her.. well.. as with any time i get a new prop my brain starts turning.. im having so much fun with my adopted child that ive decided to make my own children..
ive started working with chicken wire.. its nice because im starting out just kiddie size so im able to kinda get the hang of all the little secrets to make it turn out right..and ive noticed with the wire.. it really likes to wrestle a bit so to know what im doing is good before i tackle with the big guys..(ive got a zombie or two on the list) haha..
i made 2 out of 3 bodies tonight..its always helps to get a jumpstart while i wait for the other supplies in the mail to finish the little ghoulies..also.. im getting ready to go out on the road for another week for work so my project time will be limited yet again.. im not complaining though.. i had a very productive weekend..
at any rate.. within the next few weeks i will hear the pitter patter of dead childrens feet on my basement floor.. i once again get to enjoy my time of painting and corpsifying and i cant wait to get pics of a finished product to i can show you all my new family!
this month is a really busy month for me work wise.. im on the road a lot and unfortunately havent gotten as much work in the basement done this month as normal..if any of you remember from my last blog i was rapping about how i was crazy blah blah and being sick in a snowstorm and carrying all my lumber inside late at night..well..that sickness turned into a trip to the ER and a 2 weeks out of commission due to not being able to pick my head up..
at any rate.. ive been working shows on the road and currently i am doing a Walking With Dinosaurs live show.. check out the website.. dinosaurlive.com.. theres a video under "the dinosaurs".. this show is a multimillion dollar show with life size animatronic robot dinosaurs.. its absolutely amazing.. and i couldnt have it better..for 7 shows i get to climb 65 feet in the air to run a truss spotlight...and some of the dinosaurs are literally 15 to 20 feet below where i am sitting in the ceiling.. it takes all i have not to jump out of my seat and onto the back of a insanely loud t-rex roaring in defense of its baby..haha..
i can only imagine the skill and patience of the creators in that level of animatronics..i get very envious of people who posess the ability and the things in which i desire the knowledge of so badly.. these people have produced a show like no other and if anyone gets a chance to see it live.. please do.. you wont be disappointed.. not quite a haunt..but something every haunter would enjoy because not only are the dinos fantastic.. the lighting..the sound..and the general ambience will fascinate you..
to get to the end of all this.. i have not been on HS as much as i would like to be.. i have not had the time to mass produce props right now.. i have a basement full of tombstones i have been working on painting.. i have frequently been on to check out the gallery and blogs and such..because i always want to know what you all are up to.. haha..i have been meaning to post pics but havent had much time to actually sit down and do some computer maintenence.. they are coming along.. just slowly..i will post pics as soon as i get a free night or two..
so for the next week or two.. i hope everyone keeps at it.. you all are ever inspiring and motivating and i cant wait to get back to the swing of things on HS..
sorry this is yet again long.. i have a real problem with that.. haha.. until then..may you all be elbow deep in glue while i am riding high with the dinosaurs..
i just want to thank you all.. because on those days where i feel as if i have no motivation at all.. every time i jump on HS and remotely browse around even a little..that twitch of inspiration hits me..
so long story short..here i am 11 at night.. with strep throat and some other bunk illness.. in a snow storm.. (we are at almost 5 inches) trudging back and forth from my van to my basement door carrying all the plywood and lumber and pvc i bought at lowes the other night..
my neighbors must think im crazy.. but i dont care because if i did.. i would wear pink and brush my hair and be out at the bar like everyone else my age on a friday night.. not in my basement planning my next demise..
again.. thank you all.. im so glad to be here..
often i look around my surroundings and wonder why i am so compelled to collect and keep so many items that people ordinarily would try to rid of..its as if im punched in the stomach each time i see a person try to throw something in the trash because i know that eventually i will be able to use it for something..and at this time of the year i am thankful that i am such a pack rat because while the corporate zombie job is forced to cut hours on their employees (i...the zombie) due to slow business in the winter (thanks a lot, christmas)..it has given me something to do.. i find that if i periodically buy things and save things through the year.. then not only am i able to get a good jump start on prop building.. i am saving money that im not earning by keeping myself holed up in my basement working with the materials i already have.. thankfully i have the other job as a source of income and fortunately i can make as much in 2 days as i could a full week of selling books..which all works out for me cause i can spend a great deal of quality time with my assortment of cds, concrete walls, a cat who feels compelled to help, and the various trash to treasure items around me..
all in all.. i tend to ramble.. i have prepped two 10x24 foot backdrops to be painted for the clown room i am doing this year.. working on a few costumes.. preparing to corpsify my first blucky..prepping the foam body for a levitatimg woman (thank you monsterlist).. and.. well..needless to say my work binder that keeps all my insanity in order is bursting full of ideas..i will post pictures as things become accomplished..
although i know i dont need to justify my actions to any of you or stress the fact that we are running out of time.. it is almost spring and before any of us know it..our time of year will be here once again.. and i most definately anticipate it as do all of you im sure.. sorry this is so long.. i tend to ramble..
