Hi haunters . Something happened today that was very sad. This morning while getting ready to decorate the yard a state tropper stop by looking for family members of our previous neighbours. It turns out that the old neighbour was hit by a car this morning and killed. While I wasn't close to him but my mother and his sister use to work together last year. After deciding to continue decorating we have run into a problem. Our whole yard display is centered around a dead guy with his bride running him over with a lawn mower. This now seems wrong and I don't know if we should continue with this area. We didn't keep in contact after he moved over two months ago, but several of his friend still live on my street. Should we take the props down ? Try to modify them some how. Or just leave it alone. All the kids in the area look forward to our dead guy .We've put him out every year since we've lived here and they even bring their friends over to scare them . I just don't know what to do. Have any of you faced something like this before?
Hi haunters. I am getting so close to Halloween burn out. I am to the point where it want everything and finished yesterday but don't have the umfph to finish the last projects. I've been building, planning and breathing all things Halloween since June. And we still haven't decorated the yard yet. We were hopeing to get it out on Monday but the weather forcast said that it might rain the whole week of the thirtenth. Aaugh!. I think were still going to put up the decor anyway and just buy a couple of tarps from DTree to protect them form the elements. One of the thigs I did get done was start on the finishing surface of the pumpkin fog chiller. I decieded to just do paper mache as the suface . I know I didn't want to do paper mache but it was the only thing my walet could afford. I am so broke my walet whimmers everytime I reach for it. Anyway I did eight layers of paper mache and hope that will be enough .( cause I've run out of paper products) Coss you fingers for me so that by morning it will becompletely dry and plenty strong. Or I'll be drying the thing with a hair dryer if it isn't. But it is a flamable product so that might be a bad idea Tommorrow is finishing the chiller and other last minute projects and that should be it till we decorate . I might actually have a Halloween free day Saturday . What ever shall it do??? I might even get caught up on all the great stuff people are posting on this site and post a coulpe of things myself. I think the only Halloween free day I'll have is on Sunday because it will be the day I try to find my kitchen sink ( I think the dishes ate it.) and trying to fix my toilet. I think it is posesed . Does anybody know of a good toilet exorcist? I wounder if they're cheaper than a plumber. Now that I have put ya'll to sleep with my uber boring life I'm going to get some sleep . Nightmares to all and to all a horrid night, K
Hi haunters, I finised the cauldron today. Yaah! I wasn't happy with the first paint job but after repainting for a third time I am much happier and what makes me even happier is that to make it was l free to make. I have green lights in it and am going to have red flickering lights underneith and some logs and stixes to make it look like a fire. Also I am going to have fog coming out of it. (hopefully , I have quite figured out how attach it yet to the fog chiller). The other thing I did to day was to start bulking up the football toy chest to make it in to a giant pumpkin chiller with some newspaper. It came out a lot better that I thought it would. I still haven't figured out what to cover it with to make it weather resistant. For now I going to do a couple of layers of paper mache to smooth out the mistakes. What about outdoor stucco? Do you think that would out as a top layer for the pumpkin? I should probability check and see how much that would cost first.Thats it for tonight . Later ,Katie
Last month and neighbor throw out this football shaped toy chest. I thought it would make a great fog chiller. I figured all I do was paint it orange then paint a face on it but when I started painting it all it looked like was a orange football. Now I figure that I could use crumpled newspaper to bulk it into a more pumpkin shape. The problem I runnig into is I don't know want to use to cover the paper to give it a finished finish. I don't want to use paper mache/paper clay because I don't want it to get ruinned at the first rainfall and don't have the money for boat varnish that would make it almost water proof. Could I use joint compound or I hear a lot about carpet ahesive but know anything about it .Any thoughts would be most helpful. Happy hauntings , Katie
Hey Haunters, it is finally October. Yah! What a hectic two weeks it has been . I have been able to get so much done but not all of it was Halloween related. I have rearranged furniture , and redecorated a bedroom, rearranged the attic and my closets to make room for winter apperal, finished haunting a birdcage, put up Halloween light, taken down Halloween lights , put up outdoor lights , blew up outdoor lights, put out the backround outdoor decorations( like spider webs , bats, walkway torches), fixed up the bride prop for micheals , made a gate for the display but haven't assembled it yet, and last but not least started making the stirring cauldron. I woulda finished the cauldron today but didn't know that I ran out of black spray paint. Here is some photos of the cauldron. I'll be posting more photos soon just have to res ize them. I just want to give a special thanks to flipo13 for helping make the stirring motor.

Happy Hauntings haunters , later.
Today , while reading one of the heen books that I picked up at the library I came aross this article. According to child psychologist, Dr. Lee Salk, such fears are normal, and in Halloween is a ggod time for kids to deal with them. Halloween allows anxieties and misgivings to come out into the open, letting children manage what is at other times nightmarish. It is a time that helps them deal with any fears of death, darkness, ghost, and monsters openly, without the risk of being laughed at by their peers or adults.Dr. Salk explains, "Halloween today has a special significance because many children feel helpless in the face of violence on telvision, kidnappings and other tragedies occurring in their world. So today the monsters under the bed that scare them are really the monsters in their heads." Since Halloween is actually a publicly endorsed chance to be outrageous, it allows the child to become the "monster"of his or her fears. This is for those of us that have be botherd by the Halloween bashers. Make copies and hand it out to them. Tell them they can hate haloween all they want but it is good for the kids. On a side note for the actors and other people involved with haunted houses , when that litytle kid gut punches you this year just know that you are helping the kid live a healthier mentaly. Why does this always happen? While making up a list of last minute things to get . I got a another idea of what I want to add to my yard display but now have nowhere near the money or time to be able to make it. Now I'm going to feel like the display is incomplete. Does this happen to you? Right about the time your display is almost done you find great ways to improve it or maybe want to go in a different direction. So far it has happen to me every year. What has happen this year is first we couldn't even what theme we wanted to go with. A dead pool party or classic movie monsters. We didn't know which one to go with. But then we saw the bride at micheals and decided to do a dead wedding party. We were getting tired of the dead guy and do away with him this year but instead decided to turn him into the groom. We're decorating the walkway to make it look like and isle and that was it. Can you tell what is missing from this picture? Come on you can do it.... Yes.. the wedding guest . Why did that idea have to pop in my head two weeks before we put up the yard display. Why not when I first saw the bride? No that would have been too easy. Stupid brain. So the idea now is next year add two pews full of dead wedding guest. Maybe add a bride's maid and a flower girl too. So that's what I'll be doing come first of the year. So get ready people I'm going to need pictures of pews and how -tos on how to build the things too. (Or should I use folding chairs instead?...augh!...) Stupid, stupid brain.
One thing that sucks about spider wed is that it is the devil to dust around.Yesterday was my cleaning day and it took me twice as long just to dust my house. What do you do ? One of the good things about spider web is it is a great fly catcher. Now on a side note is it just me or is the stuff stores (Kmart,Target,Dollar General, etc) putting out some really crapy stuff. Only Target had a couple of good things but most of the stuff this year looks so cheap. They need to start hiring desingers from hauntspace. Then there would be some realy great props that people could by. That it for today, later.
