I just wanted to share a brief story on my Father. My Father was given 6 months to live about 6 1/2 - 7 months ago. My dad has a combo of Lung problems that are not curable. He has Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and something comparable to Black Lung the coal miners disease. He is 78 yrs old and for many years worked in the concrete/cement business and black top/paving. The Dr. said he breathed in alot of dust from the cement/concrete over the years and breathed in the vapors from the steaming asphalt while black topping and he was a smoker. (The Dr. says he got a triple whammy!) About 14 yrs ago he life saving surgery at Strong Memorial Hosp., they took out a growth out of his lungs-the size of a football, they said he made medical history that day. The good news is that he has never had cancer. Anyway, as time has passed his breathing has continued to decline and worsen, and will continue to do so. He has been losing weight steadily for the past few months, can't sleep, has no appetite and has alot more difficulty breathing. If he walks several steps it leaves him gasping for air and it takes him 5 minutes to regroup himself to be able to talk or anything. As the breathing becomes worse, so does his brain functioning-he is getting less oxygen to his brain. Anyway...to make a long story a little shorter...yesterday I took my Dad to a Nursing Home, one that is only 3 miles from my home. His lung specialist says that he is in the final phases of his disease and there is not really anything more that can be done, other than to try to make him somewhat comfortable. He is miserable because he really struggles for every breath he takes. And he told me before I left that he hopes the good Lord takes him out. He has a living will and they are instructed not to use any life support, CPR or any life saving measures. When he draws his last breath he does not want them to try to extend his life. I can only imaging what he is going through and I would imagine it is like suffocating. My heart is breaking because my Father and I have had a bond like no one else on earth, we have had a close bond since birth. My father has been my Dad and my best friend! (And by the way...he does not know where my love for Halloween comes from.) At least location wise, he is close by and I can see him everyday till his final day. Goldie
I watched Halloween 2007 yesterday and I was disappointed. Maybe because I like more suspense than blood. I love suspense/action/thrillers. I think Halloween #1 was the best, like most movies the first is better. I do not mind a nice mix of suspense and blood, but this by far was a blood fest. I just got tired of seeing everyone stabbed repeatedly and/or bludgeoned to death. It just kept happening over and over and over. But we are talking Michael Myers...I guess that is all he is capable of! Just sharing my opinion, Goldie &nb sp;Feel free to reply and post your opinions as well. I know there are mixed reviews on this new movie.
Hi Everyone, I have to tell all you Halloween Freaks that I am living a dream come true! For the past week and the next several weeks I am involved in the production of a Thriller/Suspense/Action movie that is being filmed in my county! That is rare in this neck of the woods. Anyway, I saw an article in the newspaper telling about the upcomming movie to be filmed in our area and if anyone was interested in being part of the crew, cast or extras to send an email and photos to the director. I did of course-right away. I sent photos of costumes and props that I have made and makeup jobs that I have done. And I am in!!! I am doing their graveyard scene, sacrifice scene, made 3 hangmen...he only wants one but I made several and he can pick the best one. I will be doing the makeup for the bloody scenes, and I might get to be an extra. I have made special tombstones for the movie. Anyway...I am in hog heaven! The film is suppose to be a full length feature. The writers/directors came up from Florida. Well I got to go, so much to do. I have to get a full size skeleton ready today and I worked on a crank ghost yesterday. She is suppose to look more like an vapor. I think I am going to have fog come up underneath her too. Later, Goldie
Hi to All, Today was my 3rd day working on our new trail for 2007. It is a totally new trail-no hayride this year-but a walking trail instead. I have been weed-eating and tree trimming in the woods and man...my arms are killing me! Anyway, I am happy with the way things are going so far. The trail will start in the small woods, and then lead into a corn maze and then to a natural swamp area and then into the large woods. Mother nature is guiding me through this trail. Well...I have to get to bed. More to come...
