To protect the sound system we use  speakers up on posts and the speakers are an outdoor type
with a water resistant design.  The amps and mixing boards are put in their cases every night and those are inside a larger weater-proofed box..  all the cables are burried 4 inches or so underground and all connections must be taped and bagged and taped again.  Lots of work but the sound is great over the whole field.
