KillerFiction -- girl!! OMG -- your stuff is awesome! It's a good thing that you and I live on opposite sides of the nation because two people with endless energy and the drive for all things spooky would be too much for any one area! I love your bluckys. I love the vision you have for your projects, too.
My bf is a full time artist. She does faux finishes, murals, and portraits. I went to her last year with a vision and a rough drawing of an idea. We talked about it and that mural is my dream in technicolor. We've done a couple of other things as well but that was BY FAR the most fun and the most rewarding. (my gazebo roof was made out of cheap canvas from the store and it only lasted 2 years so I stitched a new one and we painted the inside to look like a chickee hut with tons of palm fronds. it's a great place to hang out with friends now and it's a conversation piece, too. we get to love it all year long!) I know that when we were doing the cemetery mural we talked about a price. It's a big mural -- it completely covers my garage door. Last year she said that it would cost between $1,000 and $2,000 and a lot of that has to do with materials and details. I helped her a lot also so the burden was not all on her. The great thing about that mural is that it immediately transforms my house into something else. Lighting made a huge difference with it also. The one thing that I did was take the mural to a place that makes boat covers and I had them reinforce many areas and put rivets in those supported areas so the mural wouldn't get damaged when hanging it. I also had the bottom reinforced and riveted and I actually rigged it to my garage door so that when I park my car in the garage, the mural goes up and down with the door. Mind you, the mural only goes up half way and I drive a PT Cruiser (someone called it a mini Hearse -- it love it!!) so the car is not so big that it disturbs a half-raised mural.
Thanks, Killerfiction, for your kind words and your energy and spooky inspiration. I'm glad you enjoyed my pictures. (btw, I love my camera -- I've taken some great pics of the moon and saturn -- yes, saturn -- with it! and it still fits in my pocket) Let's bounce ideas off of each other in the future, okay?
