Classic horror (the stuff that left it to your imagination),'80s B movies (they had a lot of good storylines, just no budget for affects.)The newer re-makes ( It's kind of nice to know why the psycho in the woods is the way he is.)

The first halloween that I saw a house with tombstones in the front yard and a pretty pathetic dummy hanging from a tree I was hooked. No more cheesy paper cutouts in the windows at my house ever again. From that point on in my youth it was scraping and scrounging any materials I could find to build what was needed to have the scariest house on the block. Funny, 20 years and 4 kids later, I'm still scraping and scrounging for building materials!
