Want to make a big crate or wooden boards on the cheap? All you really need is:
- Cardboard
- Black paint
- White paint
- A container with water
- A big brush
- A small brush
For anyone who is interested, I have posted a how to article on my website. There's lots of pics to show examples of the painting technique. It's not a 'quick glance' type article.
Haven't had time to 'pretty up' the page yet since the tutorial actually took longer than it did to build the example. Hope it helps!

Ok all you fellow Canadian Haunters. Consider this a call to action. Since we only tend to find each other accidentally, I'm making an effort to create a master directory of Haunts, Haunters, Bloggers, and Events across Canada.
I've just started building it, and will spend time this week (with the help of Google.ca) looking for all of you. If you think you have a website or know of a website that's worth listing, let me know. Read more about this by following this link or by clicking the "Canadian Hauntings" pumpkin image in the navigation menu on my site.
By the way, someone in Nova Scotia has already won top spot in my blogging section. The earlier you get your submission in and reviewed, the higher it will appear in the listing.

Halloween is breathing down my neck, and I've spent the entire weekend painting...my bedroom. *sigh* Priorities, right? Well, I've been meaning to paint the bedroom for the last two years. Now it's done and I'm...not painting props. Painting burnout? Perhaps. But it seems to be a pattern this year. Finally get started on a prop and I just...stop. I don't know what it is. And yet, I'm still planning, still picking up supplies and little goodies, so I'm interested in it. I just can't seem to get in gear. I have Haunter's block. Hopefully, now that my house is in order (literally) and I have all of tomorrow free, I can focus on creating. Send me some motivation vibes across the cosmos.
I've been asked a few times in the past if I have any tips on creating props using paper mache. I decided it was time to create a tutorial. In fact, I will be adding a collection of tutorials to the 'Horrific How To's' section in the next few weeks.
If you're interested in learning about a basic approach to paper mache, making simple mache casts of objects, and getting some advice from someone who has worked with this medium for a few years, I invite you to read Paper Mache - The Ghoul Friday Way. I will announce any new tutorials as they are created. Hope you enjoy it!
