Viewing 1 - 5 out of 5 Blogs.
I have to laugh when I realize that I am not the only person in the world with a dysfunctional cat. ha ha ha...
I am so glad I decided to blog my ideas because now, when I read over what I have already written I think of more things, and also realize that there were things to add that I already had in my posession...
Not to mention the great ideas that you guys and ghouls have been sharing with me. on that note: THANK YOU SO MUCH Remember I was talking about the spell of protection before? I forgot that the sound effect that I used was the voodoo chant from the movie Skeleton Key ( you guys should try it its great!) if I can find it online I will post it on my page. What the chant was really about was a spell to switch souls. sooooo if I can get two people to act that out for me it will be great.
Things are coming together great..........(sinister laugh ) Have a good day everyone!

Ok, so me my nephew and husband sat up last night brainstorming about this years haunt. I wish that i could decorate now, but I dont think the neighbors would appreciate it much...but we did already tell them about our activities for the holiday and they seemed just as excited to see everything. Well here is what we have decided to do....
We are gonna do the voodoo theme, but I still need an idea for one more scene! I think I am gonna hassle MrSkeleton for some things ha ha and go to good ole Michaels for some trinkets. They are always good for something. I want to see if I can find one of those Joke rubber chickens and glue some feathers onto it, plenty of blood. Last year we put fake blood on the railing so when everyone finished touching each other trying to get through, and came back upstairs they all screamed more (OMG i've got blood all over me!) LOL i loved it.
I have been reading some of the things on hauntspace (thanks Grimdaddy and Pennywise) We are going to do a maze in the backyard. Everyone leaves via the basement door to go outside so they will have yet obstacle. I will take plenty of pics as this will be our first attempt. Hope all goes well.
Here is the plus........Our backyard (evil laugh) faces the woods! more ideas brewing!.......

I figured I would jot down some of my ideas here instead of losing them in the house on a post it that the cat decided to play with. Bubs is a wierd thing, I swear he has a thing for scotch tape and post it notes....and I never saw a cat eat corn beore.......
Anyways, it seems as though our haunt has somehow overflowed from the basement up into the kitchen and the livingroom. I am thinking this year of doing a voodoo type haunt. The zombies, the works. I was surprised and pleased that friends and family were coming to me in June telling me how they already have a costume in mind, etc...
We usually have our annual party and the haunted house runs that one night. Last year was the first time we had it open for the whole weekend. It was suprising how many people wanted to see, but at the same time i am pretty leery about just letting anyone walk through my home. Traditionally, before anyone goes into the basement we have someone (me) gather everyone into the living room and perform a spell of safety ( for lack of a better word) then they are walked to the basement door and I give 3 knocks to let the actors in the basement know that we are ready as well as seeing if they are ready, I tell the people upstairs that I was just casting the last spell of protection before I send them down. When I get a reply of 3 knocks from downstairs I know that they are ready and the show is on!
This year I was thinking of doing a buffet type thing in the kitchen with all the gory fixins' have learned to not let people eat before going downstairs as I had a child throwup right at the basement doorway.
I want to get a bodyform and lay it out on the table for the buffet. the body cavity will be where the finger foods and other goodies will be.... I am also going to see where I can find some inexpensive black fabric. I know the closer I get to october the price will go up. So I better do that now..... More ideas to come later.. I just wanted to write this down before I forgot some of it.

I have been looking to get a copy of one of my favorite movies, The Tingler. Starring Vincent Price, 1959. Heck I love all of his movies good and bad. This one in particular because it is one of the few black and whites that still make me jump and squirm everytime I watch it. I even did a little research on how they presented this film in the theaters; (announcing that the tingler had been let loose in the theater and buzzers under the seats. Fantastic! ) But i digress, back to my search, I read a blog of a person who is just watching this movie for the first time a few weeks ago while lying in bed. They are at the scene where Vincent Price is attempting to put the Tingler back onto his wife's body but loses it. The person watching the movie notices something crawling across their bedsheet out of the corner of their eye and jumps out of the bed breaking into a cold sweat! I almost spit my coffee out reading this, needless to say it was a small bug that resembled the tingler. just goes to show you how we can let ourselves get so enveloped in a movie; the smallest thing around us can scare the bejesus out of us!
Just a little Trivia on the film: 1. Used a couple of theater gimmicks. Whenever blood-curdling screams occurred in the movie, hidden buzzers vibrated the seats. (This feature was called "Percepto.") Shills planted in the audience let out their own screams.
2.The earliest film to depict an LSD trip.
3.Producer/Director Robert Zemeckis named his Production Company Dark Castle Entertainment in honor of William Castle.
4.To enhance the climax even more William Castle stationed fake "nurses" in the foyer, an ambulance outside of the theatre and fake "screamers and fainters" planted in the audience. The "fainters" would be carried out of the auditorium on a gurney and whisked away in the ambulance only to return for the next showing.
