1ST PROP Pnuematic Coffin Pt 2
Posted On 03/22/2008 21:38:51

Well I just couldn't wait had to show off a little. My pnuematic coffin is close to being done. Little details left to do except for one big detail the reaper inside, still have to make him.

For those of you who haven't seen my first blog, here's what it used to look like.

Kinda worn pieces missing, just looked real sad.To see more befores go to blog First prop I ever made. Anyway lets move on.

Below you will see a few of my refurbishing pics.

I started with the bottom. here the stand is on its side. Cut some pink foam board to size, cut 2 strips put one on top and repeated on bottom.Drew the lines then using a rotary tool with a rounded off grinding bit I cut out the lines.Did the same of course to the sides. Then coated it with a thinned out version of Monster Mud. Painted it with Textured paint Medium grey.

and Viola!

Next I started on the coffin

Here I gave the coffin a quick coat of black and noticed some dents, holes, rough spots that needed fixing. So bring out the wood filler.

Here I have started painting the 6 skulls i need for the coffin. These weren't the size I wanted but they don't look to bad after all. To my surprised the bones I used for the handles are still in good condition a little sanding  and paint they are ready to go. Hard to see in the before pics on the coffin were spiderwebs,i trimed them down a little painted them also and put them back on.

Now one of my bluckies from OTC has a place to sleep! I actually just threw him in for the pics I will be altering him a little so he doesn't look so.....plastic.

Well there it is not to shabby if i do say so myself. I still have more to do to but its looking pretty good these pics I had to shrink but if you want to see the pics better i have a few in my gallery.

Happy Haunting!

FREEBIES......Most of them
Posted On 03/22/2008 20:36:22

Just thought I would blog this to let people know there are deals out there if you look. these items , pics to follow, I picked up free except for the last 2 which i wanted so i got'em!

On another web site (FloridaHaunters) a member sent a message that he was giving away a bunch of items in storage. Although I mainly went to meet fellow haunters, ok also to see what I could grab, unfortunately for me not many showed up! Maybe that is fortunately . LOL Anyway he had a fair amount of large props I didn't take those. I chose the smaller stuff because I prefer to make my own. Lastly I would once again like to thank him, So thanks again Maz (Nightmare Creations)

Milkcrate full of bones,if anyone saw my Mad Lab project jawbone came from here.

A Bucket full of pnuematic cylinders a motor and a small waterpump. The ideas are swimming in my head!

A mask ,head, claws, wig and veil. All of this except for the mask is going to be used in one prop. (will show when I build)

Couple of ceramic skulls, already started to work on one of them.

These next pics I purchased 1 from MAZ and the other stumbled across on the way home.

This I saw right away, kept going back to it finally decided to shell out 40.00 bucks for it. Never bought hand made Halloween props but I liked it so i got it. It stands about 4ft tall ,lid is on hinges ,lightly stained and very well made. I thought it was a deal.

Now these I am not sure I got a deal but the store I found them in caught me in a don't care mood. The blades are real but sheath, hilt and handle are different types of plastic. they are also full size swords. Plus he threw in 2 stands. total price 50.00 knocked down from 60.00.

Well thats about it for now.Just thought I would show off a few finds and say The deals are out there if you look hard enough.

Nostalgia-The 1st prop I ever made
Posted On 02/28/2008 20:21:40

Some of you have asked to see the 1st real prop I have ever made. I made this about 8 yrs ago. When I moved to Indiana I gave it to a friend I had no place for it. Well a couple of weeks ago I looked up my old friend and to my surprise he still had it and he gave it back to me! It now is of course in sad shape. Being the 1st prop I ever made I want to refurbish it. I have a few ideas but after looking at the following photos maybe you could voice your opinion and give me some of your ideas. Always willing to listen to other points of view.

From the 2nd & 3rd pics you can see the plastic webs I tacked on and the last remaining skull  there was 6. 2 in front 2 in back and 1 on each side.

Realize these pic aren't that good sorry. In pic 4 thats the inside of the coffin where normally Blucky would be laying looking innocent.the white lines you see are where I hot glued some fabric trim to hide staples its now gone. In pick 5 I have lifted up the false bottom and as you can see, the figure of death is also gone.Going to have to remake him. Pic 6 the arrows are pointing to the pnuematic cylinders i made that are supposed to push the false bottom straight up showing  Mr. D.

I was thinking of a totally new paint job for the coffin, and have it sitting on a stone alter. Everyone looks at things differently so give me your ideas, Maybe someone has a better idea let me know.

One last thing if any of you have pics of your 1st prop would love to see them. COM'ON SHOW THEM OFF!!!
