Ouch!
Posted On: 12/28/2007 11:34:36
Just this morning at work I was emptying 3 troughs
of 197o
hot wax water. I misstepped & spilled hot wax water over my arms
& down the front of me. Quickly ran my arms & hands under cold
water & burn spray, then was run up to now care. Luckily I only
have 1st degree burns on my left arm & right hand. So with 2
prescriptions (one with codine), I'm off till next wednesday. Nothing
to do but take it easy till then. They got me bandaged up like a mummy,
ha!

I've been to the Dr. several times. He's backed off the burn cream, wrapping my arm, & switched to Lubiderm w/ oat extract. To apply to my left arm. I still drink lots of water & take Advill 4 times a day.

Today (Jan. 13th) was my final office visit to the Dr. He has cleared me fully to continue at work. Even though I was still working in the same area before, just not as fast. The sensitivity has gone down & so has the redness. I'm hoping that there won't be any scaring. So far it looks pretty good, much of not all of the dead skin has dried up & flaked off.

Update 12/31 Mon

I took my
first shower since the accident on Friday. Was a bit scary not knowing
what to expect or how sensitive my arm was. Just took it easy, was very
red & tender. Still had to get dressed, apply gel, & wrap up my
arm. Things went well & took some advill. Hasn't been that painful
that I needed codine, so far.

Update 12/30 Sunday

Last night / early this morning (2am cst), was in pain going to bed. Took some advill & pain meds. Woke up this morning at 8am in pain. Went downstairs to recline on the couch, & iced my left arm. Took advill & drifted in & out of sleep while watching "Mists of Avalon". This afternoon I went up to now care to have the Dr. check over my burns. They cut off the wrappings off & let my arms air dry. To my surprise my right arm & hand had completely healed! My left arm had developed 2 blisters, one small, another at least an inch round. Dr. said I had 2nd degree burns on my left arm because of the blistering & redness. More gel was applyed only to my left arm & wrapped. I go back next Sunday for another checkup.
