Horrorfind Weekend
Posted On: 08/18/2008 22:04:04

Tams and her kids and I had the privilege to go to our first Halloween convention this past weekend. We only went on Saturday and what a great time we had. We walked around looking at all the booths and were amazed at the talent that was present. We also got to meet some HauntSpace members. Scott-(aka HauntMaster), Sharon-(aka Dristinmorgana) and her daughters, and Jet (aka Ravenhair) and her daughters. During the afternoon we went up to Hauntmasters room to relax a bit and were able to watch as Ravenhair dressed up her models for the costume contest later that evening. WOW!! I was really impressed with the detail that she had put into the costumes. She really did a great job. Hats off to you, Jet. We left Hauntmasters room to give Jet a little more room to work. We went back to the convention and saw a Grim Reaper walking around. We had bumped into him all thru out the day. I had Hunter (Tams' youngest) run to catch him so we could take a picture. It was a site to see a 7 year old running after "Death". He gladly accepted the challenge of having his pic taken with 3 kids. I think he has a new outlook on "life" LOL. We also got to meet Rowdy Roddy Piper. That was the main reason the boys wanted to go. He is one of their fav wrestlers. They got to have their pic taken with him. Thanks Rowdy. You made their day.
The highlight of the evening was the costume contest. WOW again. First up were the kids. The contestants were awesome. Then came the grownups. OMG. They had some of the best costumes I have seen in a long time. They had a few categories and second place novice went to Ravenhair with her "Sirens from Hell". She also won Best of Show. She did a bang up job with the costumes and her models did a fantastic job with their acting out their characters. Great job to all the contestants. We took some pics but they did not come out as good as we hoped, but I did post them in my gallery.
One final note...I took Hunter (the 7 year old) to the restroom after the contest and on our way out he looks at me and says "I really had a good time today and I got to meet Scott" (aka Hauntmaster). Thanks, Scott for making a lasting impression.
