Well....another season ends. What a week, eh? Not many problems this year, except the darn foggers. 8 of them, and only 4 worked both nights. AND, 2 of them were new! 6 worked the first night, and we were down to 4 Saturday night. What a bummer. Luckily, we had a breeze Saturday night, so the 4 that did work, were blown throughout the yard. Friday night was phenominal....456 people. (possibly a few more, but the neighbor across the street that was our official counter, had to go inside to get another brew, so he said he may have missed 10 or 12. Thanks for counting, buddy !) We were so swamped by the turn out, my neighbors were doing crowd control. Saturday night was a different story... Maybe a total of 40 people. I was really surprised, because I figured since Halloween was finally on a Friday, people would be having Halloween parties or going to them, so our biggest night would be Saturday. Boy, was I wrong ! We powered down at 8 p.m. and had everything down and in the backyard and garage by 9:30 ! We sat around for an hour talking about taking a hiatis next year ( seems we always think we'll take next year off. 12 years now... we should take a break...then, July rolls around, and everybody starts talking about new ideas for The Haunt !). Jimmy is here bright and early this morning, taking down THE SPIDER. It's always sad to see her come down. We put her up the last weekend of September, so the house looks so blank and empty when she comes down ! We actually got some video this year. If I can figure out how to download it and edit it and stuff, I'll try to put it up. I'm getting older by the minute, and this technical stuff frustrates me (not to mention the small print that I can't see anymore ! ) I hope you all had a great haunt. HauntSpace is wonderful. Let's all keep in touch. I feel like I've inherited a new family ! xoxoxoxo Donna
So....we've been trying to figure out what to do with our new monsters. the ones in the video? anyways, we decided they all have to stay together, because the effect is great. Some of us think we should back my truck into the driveway, where people actually enter the haunt, and put them in the bed with a bunch of hay and stuff, and have a crew member dressed as a backwoods kind of guy with a flashlight, saying not to get too close to them, he found them out in the field, blah blah blah.... OR, make a kind of...NEST, with a big nasty looking, glowing egg rocking back and forth, and the monsters laying around it. like a nest of them....maybe some broken eggshell pieces scattered around. Any other ideas? So... How far along is everybody? I've been putting monsters together, and we've drug out most of the lighting, and we put the finishing touches on the first batch of flyers. We'll probably start flyer distribution next weekend. Then, the spider goes up the last week of the month. BOO ! xoxoxoxo
Most of The Boo Crew will be here at 7 a.m. this morning, and then we're off to the storage unit ! Hopefully, we can transfer all the HAUNT stuff in 2 trips, since we'll have 4 trucks...wish us luck. Oh...I wrote more about today's activities, but I posted it as a bulletin... Which is better? Blogs or bulletins? God, I'm such a ditz when it comes to this stuff....give me time. I'll get the hang of it ! xoxoxoxo
