bleeding tombstones
Posted On 11/28/2007 16:45:48

OK some of you have asked me about the "bleeding tombstone" project that I am undertaking. Sorry I could'nt resist that little pun. Well as much as I would like to take credit for this being an original idea, that just is not so. As a member of the HS community I feel that any and all new ideas should be shared. Now I know that there has been an issue with people posting things that they have come across, and the original author having a cow over it. Well that wont happen here. In fact the original author would like feedback on his work and any pics that you have done inspired by his work.

So to keep it smoewhat short and sweet I am posting a link to his tutorial. He has some great props that would be killer in any haunt. If you don't suscribe to Haunted Attraction magazine or Horrorshow magazine, I suggest that you do. Each has some fantastic tutorials. If you like I can scan and copy them for ya. I will only do this on a one by one basis via messaging only. This way I'll be sharing and not distributing copyrighted materials.

Anyway here is the link for the bleeding tombstones: http://www.mourningcemetery.com/Projects/BC/index.htm

Let me know what you think. Happy Haunting and prop making to all.

workshop part 2
Posted On 11/25/2007 17:42:57

Well as I said before I made a major score in getting some countertops for construction of my workshop/studio for free. Free stuff is the best stuff if you ask me. Some of you have inquired as to what type of countertops these are. Well I have uploaded some pics so that you may all see. I plan on installing them into my garage along one of the walls. This will mean that I have to brace them with a series of 2x4s. Not to worry as the Mrs. has agreed with this plan of action. I may even get her brother to help in the process.

Once I am done there will be plenty of room to begin construction of all the new props that have taken root in my head. Taking a cue from Grimmdaddy, I am going to make a couple of lighted tombstones. I also have come across a tutorial on how to make bleeding tombstones. I plan on posting pics of my progress as time goes on. Needless to say I will get to do what my heart has always wanted. I will get to make the gruesomest creations that I can think up, and have a place to do it.

Oh well I've gotta go, need to clear some stuff out to begin mounting the counters. I'll keep you updated on my progress.

studio/workshop
Posted On 11/16/2007 20:51:03

Well as some of you know I injured myself while working on the job some time ago. Long story short, hit neck-some nerve damage-light duty-all better now. Needless to say i have not been a good haunter this year. The only that the family managed to do this year were to set up a small graveyard. It was really hard using the old tombstones that I made a couple years ago.

Halloween has come and gone, and I missed it. Sad and depressing you say. Yeah I know I'm a lame arse sometimes. Fast forward a couple weeks to mid Nov. I have been wanting to construct my own studio/workshop for years. Never really had the funds, and had almost resigned that it would never happen. Well as fate would have it, I have begunworking on it. How you say?

While doing a home inspection I got my hands on some of the key items for my shop. The counter tops. They are by far the most expensive thing. They range in price anywhere from $79-$199 ea. It just so happens that this home was having it's kitchen counter tops replace. And there it was the divine light of intervention. The homeowner was just going to trash the old counter tops. There is nothing wrong with them at all. So I took a chance and asked if I might have them. The answer was a resounding YES!!!!. It seems that his contractor was going to charge him a disposal fee. So give the them away for free or pay to get rid of them. Guess which one it was.

So as a result I now 15-20 ft of counter top space to begin construction of my shop, in my garage. I will now have a place to work on all the thing that I missed out on this past Halloween season. I will be making new props, tombstones, custom vampire fangs, mummified skulls, silicone prosthetics, and so much more. I feel like the kid who got the best toy in the world.

I hope to take pics of my monster factory when finished. Next year will be a little more grusome, with all of the things that my devilish mind can think up and make. By the time I'm done I hope to have a full functioning fx shop in my garage.

I'll keep all of you posted on my progress on the shop and, any new props that are born out of it. Once I get more time I'll also post some tutorials on some of the things that I have learned to create.

Have awicked time all....................

ScreamFest
Posted On 11/04/2007 16:58:13

Well as I said, I am making another entry into my blog. I know that this one is a little late in comming so bear with me. As stated in the title this will be about me attending ScreamFest this past Oct.19-21.

ScreamFest is Florida's largest horror convention. There were many things that frightfreaks could take part of. There were things ranging from a-z and just about everything in between. I must say that it was definatley a con not to be missed. Although I did'nt go Friday, I did go on Sat, and Sun.

Sat was chock full of the horror AND halloween goodness. I attended several panels and watched quite a few movies. Movies, you say??? Yep, ScreamFest has it's own little film festival. You can watch movie shorts as well as feature lenght films. David Arquette was there to promote his new horror themed film. If you love '80s type B-movie slashers then you have to see this one.  Alot of the panels were shops on how to construct new props and tecniques for haunting. The mummified skull workshop was awesome. I never thought about using flesh tone stockings, covered with liquid latex as a faux skin.

While there I got to meet the Big boys of horror. I felt like a kid at christmas!! How many chances does one get to talk to Pinhead, Freddy, Jason, Leatherface,The Creature from the Black Lagoon, and Michael Myers at the same time. There were many other stars there as well. I think the most fun was Llyod Kauffman hosting "kar-eggyolk-ee", for his film Poultrygiest. I wish that I had more money to buy  some of the things that I saw.

Although I really did'nt do Halloween like I wanted to this year, I think my going to ScreamFest was the balance. I will post more on the con later. til then.....

keep on Haunting

Hhmmmmmm????
Posted On 10/30/2007 21:16:43

Well it's been awhile since I have posted anything. The past few months have been really hectic here. With work, family and, the holidays coming up I have been going insane. I have not even really done anything for Halloween this year. Sheila and the girls did set up a few tombstones that I had made a couple years back. They painted them and set them in the yard. As well as put up lights and ghouls.

I really need to get myself in gear for next year. I hope to have quite a few things ready. I have really let myself slide in the Halloween dept. If all goes well I will be full blast next year. I have quite a few ideas in mind that i have picked up for various mags.

As for fun stuff, I did get to go to the Screamfest Horror con, a couple weekends ago. I got to meet the cream of the crop in the genre. Doug(Pinhead)Bradley, Robert(Freddy)Englund, Kane(jason)Hodder, Gunner(Leatherface)Hansen, Brad(Michael Myers)Loree, and Rico(Creature from the Black Lagoon)Browning. Some of the others that I got to see and chat with were Tom Savini, Bill Hinzman, Shawnee Smith, David Arquette, and Llyod Kaufman. I was a great weekend. I was there with a new costuming group that I have recently joined.

As for the family we took part in the local Resident Evil movie premiere. We went as zombies,(can you see a trend?), and met up with a few folks who were dressed as Umbrella Corp soldiers. I will be posting pics later. It was a great time. The kids really loved "acting" the part of zombies. I really enjoyed scaring the crap out of some of the patrons of the movie.

Oh well this is running on. As I stated before, I plan on being a more active participant on HS in the future, now that my life has settled down some. I hope all of you have a great and horrifically haunted halloween.

new update
Posted On 07/15/2007 12:29:10

Ok I know that it's been awhile, so please forgive me. First I want to say thanks to everyone who checked in on me. My daughter has been logging on and letting me know everything. I have just now logged back online a couple of days ago myself.

Well here it is in a nutshell.I went to an Ortho doctor, who in turn sent me to a neurologist to have some new test done. As it turns out I do have nerve damage to my neck AND arm. Although I have been on light duty since May, I have been trying to work my arm so as not let it get worse. I don't know what the next course of action is, but it has got me going nuts.

I have not even thought about anything halloween related because of this. It sucks, because this is my one true passion and love. I had plans on going to a convention in October, but I don't know anymore. I am still planning on making the trip, if possible.

Finally to all of the friends that I have made here on HS in the past, Thankyou ofr looking in on me. I do plan on making my return to Susan's chatroom soon. And to all the new friends that I have just made, I hope to get to share with you our love of Halloween and all things fright related.

Gotta go, arm starting to feel a little wierd again. I hope to be on more frequently.

update
Posted On 06/04/2007 15:35:55

Well things are getting better. I have limited use of my right arm for now. I go back to the doc at the end of the month. They are going to determine if the nerve damage is severe. They will be sticking needles in my arm and running an electrical current through it. Guess it wiil show if I will regain full feeling in the arm again. On the positive side, the family and I went on a Zombie walk in downtown Orlando. I got to do the whole clan as zombies. It was a blast, walking around as zombies in May in the daylight. It was great to see people run to other side of the street as we approached. There were about 70 zombies in all. There were even a few of everyones fave zombie killer, Ash from EvilDead. I will be posting pics soon. Oh well gota go all this typing is starting to take its tool on my arm. I am supposed to be taking it easy. Yeah right!!

be back soon
Posted On 05/21/2007 18:04:12

OK hereit is. I recently injured myself at work. I have been on light duty ever since. I hurt my neck while working. I have been to the doctor, and the results are a little uncool. I am not supposed to use my right arm for at least a week. This sucks major as I am right handed. I have not been on HS as much as I would like, but kinda hard typing with one hand. So I will not be on HS for a little. I want to give my arm time to rest, and let the tingling feeling I have subside. I will be back to take up my haunting ways soon. Until then I wish everyone a scary time. As for all the friends I have made here, don't worry cause as the Terminator says "I'll be back". Take care till then.

boyhood crush
Posted On 11/30/2006 18:47:28
So, I was watching Nightbreed with my daughter just recently, and made a few comments about some of the characters in the movie. I had mentioned that I had the biggest crush on the character Shuna Sasi. I thought that she was the hottest thing ever. My daughter then looked at me and let out this tremendous round of laughter. It took about half a second to realize what I had said. Here I am a grown adult, talking about a boyhood crush with my teenage daughter. It was in that one instant that she knew just how long I have loved things that others thought as strange. I guess that makes me a little strange as well according to her. I told her that the apple does'nt fall far from the tree, and that is why she loves all of things that she does. I know it was a funny moment for us, but I like to think that she will have a fond( if not wierd) memory of her dad.
